I'd debate that. Anaheim is looking to flush all of their older vets, or at least most. If Anaheim can get an ok pick and 1 year of Scandella for Henrique, I think they think about it, just to toss that contract out. He's vastly overpaid.

Sens re-signed Duclair, for anyone that cares.

I honestly thought he was still in Chicago.

So even if u said their ceilings are equal (65pts vs 64pts), Ehlers should probably get the edge bc he’s been a significantly better goal scorer so far

And it’s not like Ehlers is injury prone,
so i don’t think that would really play into it

I think they’re pretty close to equal
Just can’t really see how you’d definitively put Sam ahead

- jdfitz77

Reinhart has trended upwards every season, so I don't think we've definitively seen his ceiling. Ehlers has bounced around, but season 2 out of his 4 was the best. Seems like something is weird in Winnipeg though, so maybe it's a product of the environment.

I do have Reinhart ahead of Ehlers though because of Reinhart's consistent upward trend, and because of Ehlers' stagnation

Yes I completely forgot Anaheim and NJ are different

- washedup20

Sure... nice try...

Maybe we can trade Sam & Risto for Laine & Kessel???

Like what? Take back less term and cap? A 29 YO, 45 point C making almost 6M for 5 years? What a dumpster contract.

I'm guessing he will go on LTIR.

I don't know if they are hopeful he can come back for 20-21/after the lockout.

What do you think about my spitball offer....

31st OA, Nylander/Olofsson, and Okposo for Henrique and Perry (2M retained).

Anaheim would be getting out from 46.5M in contracts minus the 4M from Perry so 42.5M. Taking on KO's contract leaves them with a savings of 18.5M plus they gained a 1st rounder and a capable winger.

EDIT... now that I typed this out maybe I don't even like it much from a Sabres perspective. Maybe we need something more back from them like a pick or a prospect.

Yea... they will LTIR him all of next year and then who knows.

I still have a strong belief that KO will spend the last 2-3 years of his contract on LTIR.

How about Perry's full contract for Okposo's and a 2020 2nd.

I doubt they do their #1 or #2 prospects in those deals.

At the end of last season Sam Steel came in and was their 1C and Getzlaf was their 2C. Steel had 11 pts in 22 games as their 1C. Lol.

Well... even if u had Sam slightly ahead
Wouldn’t Trouba be more than slightly ahead of Risto?

That still equals to us having to add

But whatever...
it’s not like that trade would happen anyways

That's them taking on more money down the road.

I really see them just wanting a prospect and/or pick back for Perry so that they aren't kicking the can further down the road.

Perry is gonna be a 20 or maybe absolute best 30 goal guy and maybe like 50-55 total point guy these last two years IF he gets a good center. I honestly see Perry winding up in Pittsburgh, Boston... or maybe like Dallas/MON

The last five years he has more goals and assists than Ehlers. I wouldn't say he's vastly overpaid. 20 more goals than Okposo over that timeframe although KO had about 30 more assists. Would either team trade Okposo for Henrique? Save a little annually, but Henrique has one extra year?

Last season.. .maybe.. Trouba had a career best. Over the time of their careers... no and that's even Risto playing on bottom 3 teams his entire career.

I think, and perhaps I am wrong, but the levelling in value happens because we will pay more for our players. We're giving close enough comparables to entice them to take the deal to save money...or at least that's what I was thinking.

Well...
I’ll put it this way

I think most ppl would trade Sam for Ehlers straight up

And i think just about everyone would trade Risto for Trouba straight up

That makes me think we’d have to add something
Again... exactly what we’d have to add, I’m not sure

We're not comparing Ehlers to Henrique. I'm not playing.

Ehlers is a 60 point winger. Henrique is a 45 point center. Ehlers is still developing. Henrique... he is not.
