I think, and perhaps I am wrong, but the levelling in value happens because we will pay more for our players. We're giving close enough comparables to entice them to take the deal to save money...or at least that's what I was thinking.
- RhinoFan

Fair, but only slightly i think

Trouba on his next deal gets 7.5-8mil?
(*thisnis a reason i don’t really want us to go after him btw)
Ehlers is locked in at 6mil
So let’s just call or 14mil total

Risto at 5.4m + Sam at something like 7-7.5m

Maybe it’s about 1mil difference
1.5mil at most I’d think

The guy is a dumpster fire.
- TheSabresTaco

I don't think anyone here is expect him to come in and score 35-40 again... but he brings a lot of experience.. maybe him in the right position and a center can find him. He's not who he was.. that's for damn sure. Could be a guy that finds a nice 20 goal year in his twilight with the right center.

Both overrated.
- SABRES 89

Ehlers is quite a good player. I'm not sure where the idea that either are over rated is coming from. Henrique has always been a complimentary center, and Ehlers, after his rookie year, has been a great, Reinhart like, winger.

His body is clearly breaking down and he had major knee surgery last season. To hit 20 goals, he needs a full healthy season. For 8.6M. I like the player he was, and I'd like the player he is if his salary was 5M less.

Add? are you kidding, why do people overvalue other teams players. I'll take Reinhart all day long over Ehlers. Reinhart isn't going anywhere.
- SABRES 89

I believe you and Homie have insiders who info, I don't duspute that 1 iota.
Furthermore, I do appreciate the fact you guys share some of that info...it's great to talk about.

If I may make one suggestion, that really benefits both if you into the future is to state it in a less definitive manner...as in it won't happen.
The above "Reinhart isn't going anywhere" will be used against you if in fact things change in that regard. It may be true when stated, but things change.
Risto is another, all it takes is 1 phone call to change everything...then posters come out if the woodwork railing on you guys.

Can you imagine Ehler's speed next to Jack and Skinner/Olofsson.

My god... Ehlers is so f'n faaaaaaaast. He has some defensive liability problems though.

Jets have probably one of my favorite forward groups in the NHL. Laine, Connor, Schiefele, Wheeler, and Ehlers... add in Roslovic... then they still have kids like Vesalainen, Gustaffson, Appleton, and Spacek.

That's assuming Sam's deal is already in place. He's got another year at 3.65. Being that they are very cap strapped, even this savings counts.

But if Risto << Trouba, Ehlers < Reinhart and we are saving them a couple million, then it averages out more, that's all I'm saying. I don't think that deal would go through either way tbh.

Joe Pavelski's future with San Jose got a bit cloudier in the aftermath of the Erik Karlsson signing.
According to CapFriendly, San Jose has $12,542,583 in projected cap space. Pavelski, Joe Thornton, Joonas Donskoi and Gustav Nyquist are pending unrestricted free agents, while Timo Meier and Kevin Labanc are key restricted free agents. The Sharks don't have much cap space to get those players signed and will probably need to clear some contracts with trades. It will be interesting to see how the team handles this situation, as there could be some difficult decisions coming.

They also gave up their 2021 1st rounder by resigning Karlsson. They now only have one 2nd rounder, and two 3rds in the next 3 years.

I'd fight a hyena to get Pavelski in Buffalo for his twilight years.

It’s gonna be hard for them to keep either of the Joes, and Nyquist & Donskoi are definitely gone

I can't see him leaving San Jose, i'm sure they will find a way to make something work. I'm sure Thornton takes a lot less then 5 mill to stay.

Sharks fans were pencilling Jumbo Joe back into their line up taking a 1 year 1M contract and Joe taking a 2 year 4M contract I saw already.

I think 0 goals in 21 playoff games is where the over rated comment comes from.

At 8+ million though?
And considering how banged up Perry has been the last few years

No thanks
He’s clearly in steep decline
Gotta be MUCH CHEAPER options to “hopefully” score 20goals with the right center

In all fairness... I did put in my stupid trade scenario that ANA would be retaining about 2M on Perry's contract. Lol.

Are you talking about Corey Perry having 0 goals in 21 playoff games? Because he has 36 goals and 89 playoff points in 119 playoff games.
