Another prediction:

There's going to be a trade or signing that leaves everyone scratching their heads

Skinner, eichel, Nylander
Ollofson, Middlestadt, Reinhart
Sheary, asplund, ?
Wilson, girgenson, okposo

Dahlin, Bogosian
?, Montour
Pilut, Risto

I wouldn't waste alot of monies/contact length on the question marks...

Shoot for more permanent solutions next year
Caufield would slide in nice for Nylander in time

- homiedclown

Wild Bill

This lineup looks like jbotts has no care for keeping his job and that you are completely banking on turning it around in 20-21.

It’s either the moulson in treatment or the Berglund treatment. If they can dump him off in a trade, congrats Jbotts.
- Sabre_Tooth

I'd rather see Asplund as the 4C then Slobotka.

That sounds like a long list ...... but doable. We have the ammo for it.

A simple one is vesey or a bottom 6 player who needs a change or scenery. That wouldn’t take much value wise

Andre Burakovsky and others may need to be moved, not that they are that great.
- SABRES 89

I wanted Burakovsky last offseason. Seems like a guy who can flourish with more opportunity. Would at least look better on the 3rd line then Sheary.

The question is whether JB keeps his job with another bottom 10 finish.

I don't think so. There need to be significant moves

Thirty other teams looking for trades and cheap good players, maybe time Buffalo builds from within.

I highly doubt he gets fired, there's no quick fixes.
I'm sure ownership probably understands this...

Boston gets raped in every trade they make yet have more cup finals appearances then anyone else in the East the last 9 seasons.

Maybe if they didn’t have to wait 3-4 years for McAvoy, Pasternak, Debrusk, Carlo to finally show up they might have made a few more

I would argue that 3 years is long enough to turn this around with the pieces in place. Unfortunately Botterill squandered one opportunity to turn a player into anything useful.

I'll be honest, I dont think he has that short of a leash, but we HAVE to be atleast fighting for a spot at the end of the year. No ifs ands or butts.

At some point you guys gotta stop running folks out of town, let his draft picks bloom. Or listen to fans and keep blowing it up

If they don't buy Sobotka out, I'd bet $0.50 that they'll dump him in the minors somewhere.

So that leaves 31.

31 and laaksonen for Zucker

Sign Greg McKegg and call it an off-season?

Feels like there has to be more

- jcragcrumple

I kinda wanna hang on to Laaksonen
But we do have a lot of mobile puck moving defensemen, so maybe he’s expendable

Sobotka has no business being here.
- SABRES 89

I was told he was a quality depth player,
but it looks like we may be stuck with him for this last year

Like Larsson & Girgs though...
If he was used strictly as a 4th liner,
he’d probably be “ok”

He absolutely can’t be a top9 Center though

I agree. Tim Murray tried to rush the rebuild and look where it got us. New coach/GM and huge player turnover year after year has resulted in:

1) no playoffs
2) over paying for UFA's
3) disgruntled fans

I am probably in the minority opinion here when i say "patience is a virtue". Signing Skinner and getting a decent coach were the two biggest things to do this off season. Rushing to trade Risto or McCabe unless it is a home-run trade is a sign of desperation and foolish IMO. Let's start by scubbing the roster clean of Sobotka, Girgs, Larsson and Scandella. And probably a few more as well.

Wild Bill
Jt Miller, Ehlers

Skinner-Eichel-Sheary(he’d produce w them imo)
Miller-Karlsson-Reinhart
Ehlers-Mitts-Olofsson/Nylander
Cally-E Rod/Larsson-Okposo

Tage, #31, Nylander &/or Smith used as trade chips, add other picks/prospects if necessary
