We forgot Sharp on Chicago... Helluva player. That team might be the most stacked team I can remember. Sharp was drafted by Philly though. The GS Warriors of that era.

I do believe that LAK follow the same model.. Quick, Doughty, & Kopi. Studs.

Wouldn’t the Sabres trading 7 for a legit stud give you 4 players of such caliber.

Eichel, Skinner, Dahlin, Traded piece.....

I'm in the boat of "It has to be a pretty amazing player with term on a deal to trade the 7OA".

The one draw back in my mind is that we could have 4 really good pieces but the rest of the team are about 5s out of 10 on the "can this guy f'n play" scale.

The other teams we mentioned had 3 or 4 Stars but another 4-5 guys who were about 7s or 8s on that same scale.

The only guy I would move 7 for in a package is Couts because of his contract and there isn't a chance in hell Philly moves him

Adding another big piece right now without the rest of the supporting staff being better is exactly what Murray tried to do and failed.

He brought in ROR, Kane, and Bogo in huge trades... then tried Scans and NB in smaller deals for support.

The problem was is that the teams were too top heavy.. the rest of those teams were guys like Moulson, Gionta, Ennis, Foligno, Carrier, Larson, Gorges, Fashing, and Franson. Then it was Pouliot, Antipin, and Josefson..

It just didn't work. One guy is injured or in a dry spell... you are f*cked. It's about windows.

Murray also royally overpaid for every asset he acquired.

You have to be smart. No one is saying go full Murray and give away everything for two guys.

But if the right deal comes along you absolutely move 7.

None of us know what is available.

Taylor Hall for 7. It’s tempting for me.

Conditionally they would have to send something back in case he is not resigned.

What was it the other day on CapFriendly that a few TB fans actually sat there and thought about...

Something like:

BUF gets: Point, Callahan, and Palat

TBL gets: 7OA, Mits, and 2020 1st.

TB didn't mind it because it got Callahan's 5.8M out plus Palat's highly underachieving ass's 3x5.4M out the door plus they get 2 1sts and a projected 2C in Mits who can grow under Miller/Johnson/Gourde.

IDK how salary would work because Point is gonna get about 9-10M AAV I'd guess.

Tempting.... very much... but a pending UFA with injury concerns. That's a big pill to swallow.

So we're trading 2 firsts (1 very high and 1 potential lottery pick for next year) AND Mittelstadt for Point?

Eff that.

Adding a 2nd 100 point center isn't gonna be a Leopold, Ennis, and a 2nd.

It was just something that I was shocked TB fans actually entertaining.

EDIT: maybe there was another pick or something coming back with TB too. I just remember it was 2 contracts for them plus the 1sts and Mitts from us.

Getting creative short term can hurt long term when it comes time to re-sign Dahlin.

Would you rather get one stud player this off season or get 3 solid players that can improve the entire team?

That is the real question.

- Stripes77

There is always ways down the road. And I believe in the next two years (when Dahlin's ELC is down) the cap is going to go up 10 to 12 million due to TV rights and Seattle.

So I think we would be worrying about nothing in this case. Cap had a huge jump with Vegas, and those TV rights are just icing on the cake.

Who are these 100 pt centers you speak of? 😉

I guess I should have been more clear.

It's not the package for Point, it's the get out of jail free cards for Tampa, regarding Palat and Callahan, even though for him it's only one year.

I like the age of Point (23), coming off a 92 pt season w over 40 goals.

It's a bold move, for sure, but we would still need more roster turnover.

That’s a brutal trade for Buffalo.

3 1st for Point and 2 cap dumps.

I don't see anything but a bridge type deal for Casey on the horizon. Something along the lines of skunk.
