I definitely hear you on that. I really don't binge play on anything.
- Pelle31Forever

I can binge NHL at times but man, I bought Sekiro few months back and couldn’t stop playing it. Even after beating it. A good challenging game too. Won’t fly though that game at all. Finally stopped playing it after getting MLB the show

I guess the Flyers are thinking (wishful thinking?) that Morin will be good to go this season...otherwise, yes, the D is not going to intimidate anyone.

Have to believe Fletch has more up his sleeve...

- BroadSTmayhem

I sure freakin hope he has more moves coming because what’s going on so far, not great.

As for Morin vs Hägg, how can anyone have undeniable faith that Morin can outplay Hägg? Hägg isn’t flashy but he’s also by no means a scrub.

Okay, this comment is just ridiculous.

First, people are mad about the age and money exchanges between Gudas and Niskanen and they should be because it’s ridiculous the amount of cap we took on.

Calling Myers a stud is premature.

We have to worry about Morin making a hit and being out another full season because he’s been riddled with injuries since we drafted him.

I think you’re on the wrong side of who needs to get a grip, or at least educate yourself by reading an article on the trade.

Might be the first thing we agree on. It's not an awful trade. We technically got the better player at least in theory. Whether or not that's true the next 2 years will prove. People are slotting him in next to provy or sanheim.

But with the other rumors that came out: trouba wants a 1 year deal to hit ufa next year, spurgeon intends to resign, Myers not worth the money he will get, etc. If all those things pan out that way than I'm not as upset about the trade.

Its underwhelming for a team saying theyll contend this season. But we have the rest the off season to see what else we get. If all we do is draft and sign a hayes like player, sign elliot/Talbot and than niskanen. Than we are still relying on the kids to make a major jump to be anything more than a bubble. Those are baby step improvements.

Who has said the Flyers will contend this season? It's always been about the young players. Nothing that happens this off season will change that.

I’m confused by this response. If you take money away, then the trade is fine. With the experience Nisksnen has, he very well will have to be that top d-partner we have hoped for Provorov. On the flip side, we took on all of Niskanen’s contract and retained 30% of Gudas’ money. Why would we do this? Niskanen comes into our line up as a 7 million dollar player-ish? How are people not more upset? We allowed a division rival take advantage of us while we were drunk and we haven’t woken up to do the walk of shame yet.

Gudas will do his job on the 3rd pairing. He’s a solid player there. He did a good job cleaning up his game this past year. He’s always going to walk a fine line with the Hitting, it’s his dumb stick swinging that he needs to control.

Is there much left with niskanen?

- Just5

His first bad season was last year. Prior to that, he saw the most 5v5 minutes of any dman, and was the premiere shutdown dman the Caps deployed. It all depends on how he bounces back after his down year, is it a trend because of his age, or was it an anomaly. Orlov also had a bad year, and isn't 32. So the issues with the pair falling off the cliff needs to be examined closer.

I, personally, am a huge fan of Niskanen, and inclined to think his sharp decline can't be attributed to his age alone and it's certainly possible for him to return to a bit closer to form. Maybe he can excel in a 2nd pair role, not facing as stiff competition as he did here.

Can someone explain to me why we want Trouble so badly? Prior to this season, his career high was 33 pts. Even in a down year Ghost had more than that.

He’s got pros and cons. Some people want him and some people don’t.

I think they are still going to try and get him and use Ghost to do so. Others don’t.

I guess we will see.

We’ll need him up on that top pairing at least this year. Ain’t no rest for the weary

Paying 30% of Gudas salary on top picking up another 2.5 million the Flyers are basically paying Niskanen 7 million. Is he a 7 million dollar defenseman now at 32 while breaking down? My fear is this is all Fletcher will do on defense.
- killercam

What?? Stop looking at numbers. Flyers have room for that. Flyers are looking for leadership on defense. They found it without giving up any other asset...they used cap space instead and his salary wont be a big deal when his contract is up.

I love this trade

He shouldn't do anything else on defense.
- MJL

Defense is complete. He found that top 4 guy

2c is next. I was against a ghost for kadri trade but if we have to give to get I may pull that trigger. Ghost is dynamic, make no mistake.....but again we arent goin to get any top echelon guys without giving up some of our own. Toronto needs cheap talented D....we need a 2c to get to that next step. It's the price of business. At least we arent trading for trouba

I'm not worried about Morin at all. He will be fine. Lots of morin hate here. All the guy did was get hurt and everyone hates him and he is a bust?
You people crack me up. What else does your crystal ball say about this upcoming season?

I like the trade.
I think if we are able to sign Hayes then Ghost goes in a deal for Trouba.
If we don’t sign Hayes Ghost will go in a trade for Kahdri.
I’d like to keep Ghost... & go after Dushesne

Because very few people here have actually seen him play. They hear the word "trouba" and have this imaginary all star hockey player in their heads.
If trouba did Come here God forbid, the fans would hate him and everyone will deny every wanting him here.
He is not worth ghost alone and sure AF not worth ghost and the 11th
Its definitely silly season for hockey

Also it sounds like Karlsson is close to signing.
If it’s a crazy contract then maybe Joe Pavelski will be available.
38 goals last year. That would be a nice add.

Agree the numbers are inconsequential when you consider the position they are in now. Understandable why people would be mad it's hard to fathom how much cap room we have. We've never been in that position.

Helping the Caps' cap out is pretty moot given it's 1mil for one year. 1/83 < 2% total cap, But the number everybody sees is 30%.

Only a handful of players in the league with more playoff experience than this guy. Gudas, who I am a pretty big fan of, was really small in his limited moments in the playoffs and is a 3rd pair defenseman.

Get to the playoffs. Have Niskanen teach these guys what it's all about. Figure out which ones you want to lock up as the wave of RFA approaches the next couple years. If we splurge on FAs we'll be royally franked (picture Frankenstein). See Toronto

Most elite players don't become free agents. All NHL teams are overpaying FAs and giving them term which is not sustainable in the salary cap era. We have a crop of high potential prospects right now. Prospects are not developing at the rate we hoped but still have tremendous potential.
We're not exactly in a push it over the top position, but we might be in 2 years. If we somehow are in that position by the TDL maybe with outstanding goaltending, marginally stronger offense, improved team D, improved penalty kill, better coaching, (e.g. bouncebacks from Provy+Ghost, steps forward from Sanheim+Myers(+Morin?), add Niskanen, make Lappy the eye in the sky locker room guy)...THEN be more aggressive with rentals at the TDL.

Very unfamiliar territory for flyers management and flyers fans right now. Spewing cap space the first year we have it would be super sad (and just like us!). Thinking today's trade is spewy given the duration of the contracts and the relative cap hit is missing the big picture.

I would overpay for Pavelski on a 2-3 year in a heartbeat. For similar reasons to why Niskanen is a good Flyer. Plus the dude scored 38 goals, as you said. Not exactly a Marleau type signing.

I would take you serious but you lost all credibility having Schenn in your name.

This deal is fine. Not bad. Not overly great. Just okay. Not willing to blow up Fletch for making this move.

They traded Radko Gudas. Not one of their major assets. For a guy who makes 2.5 million more, for one extra year.

It certainly beats having a mid-high cap similar aged man with longer term in free agency

My pairings would be

Provorov-niskanen
Ghost-sanheim
Hagg/Morin-Myers

That second pairing seeing plenty of ozone starts.

I would also look into signing a player like chiarot or jordie Benn on a 1 or 2 year deal. Solidify the depth on D. You are still thin if your counting on either Morin or amac as a 7D. Amac needs to be in Lehigh valley and stay in Lehigh valley. The phantoms need him down there it’s important for them to bounce back
