There were those 5 games that Vinny was on pace for a 40 goal season.....

Darn, he was slower than Weise and Knuble 😂 |

MacDonald did exactly what he was signed to do. Gave the Flyers a solid defender who could eat minutes and provide a veteran presence, especially for younger players. Every young player he played with relayed how he helped them grow as a player. He provided leadership and was deeply respected by his teammates.
Unless something changes, I don't see the sense in buying him out. - MJL
Not when they could have just sent him down.

Sometimes players say nice things about teammates because saying bad things would be bad mmkay. |

They'll say that the roster spot was more valuable than the cap penalty. There is no other explanation. |

There was no role for him because he simply isn’t good enough to hold down the 5-6 role on this team. He was not solid, he was mistake prone. He was so bad a couple years ago that they had to send him to the AHL. Just a bad signing and an over valuation that has finally ended.
- landros 2
My memory sucks, but I thought they sent him down because they were in cap trouble and sending him down gave them the space they needed? |

amac is a guy you put on the ice to jump in front of pucks cause that's pretty much all he can do |
|
|
|
Good riddens MacDonald. What a poop bum. Why didn't they send the guy who signed him to that joke contract packing too. |

At the time they did say that....but teams don’t send guys down that are playing good and help them win. They knew no one would take him on the waiver wire (obviously) ....so he was the logical choice.

Absolutely. It's a fact. What does that have to do with the post you quoted? - MJL
How exactly is that a fact? |

He had the right balance of high salary and expendability. I don’t think he was ever as bad as fans make him out to be. |

There were nights were he played a solid game. But you could never count on him to do it game in and game out. Coaches trust was mis placed. It’s like they were complacent with his inconsistent play. He should of been sent packing years ago....unlike some, my comments are not facts....they are simply my views. |

The did get that one decent partial season out of him.
That's more than they got out of Vinny and Bryz. - Tomahawk
In 2011-2012 Bryz gave them a 249 minute shutout streak which remains the longest in team history. |

I really didn’t watch Phaneuf at all this past season with the Kings. But if I remember correctly he wasn’t that bad with OTT before in playoffs . If we can’t go the trade route for another dman, would he be a serviceable guy as a back up short term guy? |

I wonder if 5 years from today we will be celebrating the buyout of Kevin Hayes.
I thought the smarter move was to bury Amac in LHV. Can’t figure out the logic behind a buyout.
It’s really no big deal either way. |

100%
If the team has to go out and sign Phaneuf in 2019 then the rebuild of the defense has been a failure. The guy is toast. |

Dunno, he just has that reputation of doing right by everybody around him. In this case, burying AMac for another season would be kinda ruthless, even if it makes logical sense. - Tomahawk
I’d take what the GM said as the truth. He just wants the extra $3 mil plus |
