Not sure why everyone is suprised Sharks have cap space. Pavelski, EK, Thornton and Nyqvist are all FAs. Thats 20 mill in cap space right there. |

Nyquist was a rental. Pavelski is likely staying. Has Thornton announced he's retiring? Most media outlets have Karlsson holding out for Tampa but they have to create cap space to make that happen. Most notably moving Callahan. |

If Thornton comes back, it'll be at a cheap cost. He'll be playing for another chance at the cup, not for the money. Keeping EK will do a lot to keep the team a contender, which will entice Thornton to come back on a low dollar contract. Pavelski is likely staying, which won't come cheap. But Wilson has done a good job with contracts in the past, so has a game plan. |

That's an old core the Sharks have. Do you really believe they're good enough to win the Cup? Which is more likely? Regression or progression? |

I see. Like the Leafs having lots of Cap space because Marner isn't signed. It's not guaranteed he'll sign so Dubas can go on a spending spree. |

I think there's enough talent there still to go for it. I wonder what could be done...Maybe sign Pavs longer term for a lower cap hit? Trade for Kessel. He and Couts are proven playoff beasts. Sign Karlsson. I don't know what Meier gets...Let Nyquist go, if JT will come back for 1-2 then bring him back. Then there's the goalie situation...
I dunno...I like the sharks, would be nice to see them win. |

Yeah SJ is still a good team but they're a now team. So EK has to ask himself if he wants to be playing for a future version of the current Red Wings 2-3 years from now. Enough pieces are still there for a couple more kicks at the can. Wilson drafts and trades well so maybe he can retool on the fly like the Bruins did. Holland's retool on the fly didn't work in Detroit because he failed miserably at the draft and was unwilling to make impactful hockey trades. |

Yeah they've been a now team for quite some time. Sooner or later you fall off that cliff. Though you're right, they do draft well considering they always finish high and still wind up with good young players. |

They are already rioting in the streets of Montreal because they read Ek's blog and believed the Habs were in on Eberle big time. Incredible disappointment. |
