Well you can't take this stuff too seriously. It's just hilarious how bad Chevy really is. There are too many True North apologists on this board sometime. If you think about Chevy's job, it mainly to do cap management and make trades. His scouting staff actually makes the draft picks.
His only good two deals were Evander Kane and Paul Stastny. Otherwise he whiffed on the following deals: Andrew Ladd, Joel Armia, Kevin Hayes, Brendan Lemieux, and now Jacob Trouba. He panicked and signed Little and Wheeler. He probably could have gotten a good deal on Enstrom if he traded him a couple of years ago too.
Just some of my thoughts... |

This looks really bad on paper.
As a casual Jets fan, I’d like to offer this suggestion: Fire PeeMo and Chevy.

It's incredibly bad, we have a reactive GM and not one that is proactive. It's been one of my main discussion points this offseason.
On the bright side I am looking forward to the joy a Simon Bourque/Neal Pionk pairing brings us here in the Peg!!! |

CAP SPACE and a 1st round pick is what the deal really means. If Pionk amounts to anything, then that will be a bonus. |

Don’t forget Chevys rumoured interest in Phaneuf.
Cheap enough, he might help. |

If we can't sign Myers than yeah bring on Neon Dion Phaneuf.
Imagine a right side of Byfuglien, Phaneuf and Pionk. Stanley cup written all over that! |

So do you want to see the Tower of Flowers signed or not UJ?
If so, what’s your real term and dollars? |
|
|
|
If I step back for a moment I have 3 thoughts among many others: 1) All those "in the know" claiming that there were multiple teams calling Chevy were making that sh!t up; 2)and/or Overhardt must have let it be known that Trouba would be going to UFA no matter what; 3)and/or none of the teams that JT was interested in signing with long term were calling Chevy.. |

Not at all, but on this day when Trouba is traded for Pionk, anything is possible. |

True.
Tessier’s Trouba Take? |

It sucks big time, but don't you think Chevy would have taken a better deal if it was out there? I think we all were sucked into the optimistic fantasy vortex of our own creation. I'm not defending Chevy, but just trying to remove the emotion from the moment. Trouba had continually put management in a no win situation. Why would we expect that m.o. to have changed in the last week?..... |

I really thought the Jets would get a better return for Trouba. They better hit a home run with the 20th overall pick. |

Dion Pha9 coming soon to an arena near you.
Luckily, his salary demands will be minimal, given that he’s already being paid by two other nhl teams |

2 @ 2.5 is what I’ve heard.
Phaneuf with a huge chip on his shoulder with something to prove running guys. Pair him with Byfuglien and crack a beer.
That’s entertainment |

My guess is that it would be #2 - Trouba was going to free agency in a year's time come hell or high water. (or so said his agent)
So the good news is, as someone stated, for one year of Trouba we got Pionk, a 1st and cap space to re-sign Myers. Makes it sound better. Not great, but better!
Surely the pro scouts saw something in Pionk. |

For that return he should have been kept as an ‘own rental’. We have traded a similar amount away at each of the last two trade deadlines ( and I am ok with that) but now we need to find a 2/3d and a #2C . Pitiful return for a player who will be payed 7+million this year. Chevy puts his neck on the line with that. I don’t want him making any more trades. |

Gawd, please no Phaneuf. I'd rather play short-handed for the whole game. |

Would not want to be cutting across that blueline with your head down, in either direction.
Phaneuf in his first few years in Calgary was a maniac. Absolutely ferocious. And he would be the least frightening of the two |

But they do need more leadership with Hendy probably going the Jimmy Roy route next season |
