Say what you want about his foot speed, inability to score, contact $ and attitude, but the guy is pretty tough, no?
I mean, he's no Loui Eriksson, but i believe he can muster up the odd body check here and there. |

The kicker for me is the NMC.
Some places i've read that Lucic would forfeit this if he agreed to a trade, but Friedman's piece suggests that it would remain in place, which would mean he would be protected in the expansion draft.
That's a non-starter for me.
But I would be ok with Lucic and JP for LE.
I think Lucic would be able to play a role on this team and - dbot bring (my favorite hockey term) some much needed GRIT!
#Sandpaper - If he needs protecting as you mention then that's a hard no |

Agreed, although i'm not sure if that actually would be the case.
If he could be exposed in the expansion draft, what would you think?

From what I’ve read, it’s his choice. He can agree to waive it to go to Vancouver but then after again he has the choice to keep it or waive it completely as a Canuck. But he had to tell the Canucks before the trade is completed.
It’s a tough call for him too because the NMC saves him from possibility the AHL in the future. So even though he wants to play in Vancouver and leave Edmonton, he’s still worried about being stuck in Utica in a year or 2 from now. |

I think I'd take a chance on Jesse Puljujarvi as the throw-in to make a Lucic for Eriksson deal work. The kid was a close #3 to Laine (#2 OA) in the draft just three years ago and might simply be "lost" in Edmonton.
Honestly, aside from Hughes, EP, Bo, Boesser & Demko, possibly Jake...is there anyone that *really* needs to be protected in the expansion draft? Whomever we draft this year won't be eligible, and OJ probably won't have played enough games to be eligible (I'd have to re-check the rules).
Throw in Stecher if you must. Do you really care about Sven, Sutter, Beagle, Rousell, Schaller, Hutton, Schenn? Even Tanev or Edler two years farther along? |

No. The game has passed him by. He is slow and gets frustrated and becomes a liability by taking unnecessary penalties. Just because he has the IQ of a rock does not make him tough. |

Lucic aside, who are the forwards the Canucks will protect?
Boeser, Petey, Horvat, Gaudette, Panarin and? I feel confident that having Lucic wouldn’t make a difference. |

Our D is an easy 2yr fix, but everyone wants to panic. Go try to get Miller & leave the rest alone for now. - DrChristianTroy
Some folks don’t think it through. Burning off years using patience is one thing but doesn’t mean standing still in other aspects. That’s unwise imo. |

No clue what their asking price is (or what OJ’s perceived value is) but I’d be willing to part with OJ for Miller + the 48th pick. We stay put at 10. I think Rathbone + Miller would be a 🧨 2nd pairing in 2020/21 - DrChristianTroy
Gives VGK cost control & cap space so a very good idea 👍 |

I challenge anyone to put together a Caufield scouting video longer then 60 seconds that shows him doing anything impressive aside from potting gimmes. Dude has an ELITE (accurate) shot/release and that’s it. He’s a detrimental piece to any top 6 line IMO. His linemates will suffer in all 3 zones - corsi will be ruined as his line perpetually plays short handed... Brink compliments any top 6 line with vision/creativity, creates space (as opposed to relying on finding space created by linemates) and possession/board play. Caufield wants no part of that sh!t. - DrChristianTroy
Caulfield is the ultimate goal suck doing none of the heavy lifting. The perfect player to disappear in the PO’s. |

According to his coach he was one of the better 200 players and covered for his linemates quite often |

He could also lead a series in goals & still be the reason his team got swept. |

I think MacEwan will be a priority by the the of next season. I really hope Green tries him out with Pearson & Bo. |

So essentially a Brandon Pirri? Interesting. - Nucker101
Caulfield is essentially a player with others serving him up goal chances then cashes in off of their backs. Then a team has to pay him come rfa time while others get less usually. Does anyone think Laine isn’t all that different? Dude is a lazy goal suck who wants the moon probably. In the end 1 dimensional players kill teams cap. |

C'mon.
I know he's slow, dumb and all the rest of it, but he's still a bruiser.

By the time Lucic arrived for a hit or have his buds back the plane left the airport on the way to the next game. |
