Per my buddy:
“Kahun is a little undersized. Whenever I watched him I came away impressed. Hes a winger that’s gonna be active on the forecheck, and he’s skilled enough to make plays on offense and bury goals. One of those guys who’s biggest skill is basically bringing the effort. When he brings it he’s solid. More often than not I was happy with him playing”
Sounds like a damn good fit for the Bjugstad/Simon line. |

I wish someone had kept track of EK's success rate with rumors. I'm curious to know how many and which ones he's called. |

I’ve only witnessed it once and it was for the Johansson-Jones trade. |

Not sure if there's enough finishing prowess on the wings between both of them. Besides, what are you doing with Horn? |

I like this deal!!! Watching Kahun reminds me of exactly what McCann is. I think he can easily fit in on a 2nd or 3rd line for us. I probably only watched 15 or so hawks games this season but he always seemed to be noticeable in a good way. If we can somehow dump Johnson this is shaping up really good! - pens4life-66
I have no clue about Kahun, but I do like MCCann. I think its a solid move. Maata was on the outs anyway so it was inevitable. I think the Pens like Hornquest too much and he has a NTC....Rust is kinda meh IMO..He might be dealt but I dont think JR is done by any means. Still think Kessel gets dealt. |

So this is what I'm reading: Fast, avoids contact, plays all 3 positions though mostly LW last year.
1.89pts/60 at ES. All his relative rates were positive and those often impressive after a rookie year.
Was used all over the place including top 6. Played very little at special teams (Sully uses almost everyone at one or the other).
That's an intriguing guy. 35 ES points is a lot for a guy who bounced around the line up, and getting it from a guy who seems to play well at both ends means you could play him anywhere. |

Stick him back with Sid and put McCann with Malkin. Jigger things from there if things aren’t working. I also still think Phil gets traded so you can put Hornqvist with Malkin too. |

Agree with this. Kessel will still be moved. |

I think Phil is here until at least the deadline. |

Think this was a good move by the Penguins. But man does RW always have to be snotty towards Toews ? You knowToews didn't tell them to put him in the top 100. Anyway think Kahun is a good pick up. |

That jab isn't exclusively at Toews for being in the top 100... was quite a few that should not have been ahead of Malkin |

This wouldn’t be an issue if we didn’t have to deal with three years of “Is Toews better than Crosby” takes. There’s nothing to dislike about Toews, seems like a pretty plain personality and is a good player, but the circle jerk around him when Chicago was winning their Cups was unbearable. |

LOL, RW is just kind of a Richard writer. I dont think anyone cares for his style. 20 years from now he will still be talking trash on JJ.
That said, I do think Toews is way overrated. I dont think he sucks, just nothing special. My company has 2 offices in Canada and they love the dude. I just tell them that Kane is the true hero of the Hawks and they get pissed and drink their crappy beer. |

Scuds and Sutter still get the odd mention haha. |

Considering Feds was Ukrainian and currently in a state of war with each other. Historically bitter enemies.....yeah Plots is the closest thing. But why does a generational talent need a fellow countrymen to play with? - sammy87
Closest thing was a reference to Feds being from Ukraine and the proximity of Russia & Ukraine... never mind.
Never said he needs a generational talent from his own country, in fact, the time to have done that would have been when he was younger and maybe could have used a linemate like that. however, having gonchar helped him a lot. |

Good blog. I like both moves, certainly Pettersson to 2nd pair. But I'd give Kahun a look with Malkin, that LW spot is wide open. |

Planarian would be awesome though.....If Skinner can get 8, Planarian will get 10+. He reminds me of St. Louis in a way. |

I remember those Hawks cup runs. Toews was a pretty damn good player. Superstar...no, but I enjoyed watching him play. I don't underestimate his contribution to those cups. He was a big part of it. |

On a side note, while the Pens are likely holding on to their 1st pick, I think Tampa is a team to speak with regarding some of their forwards.
Tampa has to sign four players to fill out their roster, one of them being Point. Someone is going to score big off them by giving up a high pick or pick/prospect.
I could see Tampa moving Miller, Johnson or Killorn. |

From Rossi at the Athletic....
Restocking the Penguins’ prospect system is not his current priority, though. Notably, Rutherford did not rule out more trades — including one involving the Penguins’ first-round pick — before the NHL Draft that opens Friday in Vancouver.
“Our priority certainly is to be in a win-now mode,” Rutherford said. “We have to continuously look at that.”
