The suspense is killing me. - Reubenkincade
Nighthawk puts out multiple trade or acquisitions proposals as discussion points, he constantly is asking for others opinions. He takes a lot flack for constantly posting rosters or proposing trades and he is at times ridiculed.
Most of the posts against his proposals are to have patience and draft and develop. Then another team makes a trade, today Trouba, and the patient draft and develop crowd starts to criticize Benning for sitting on his hands while players get moved about.
The patient draft and develop crowd also want a complete overhaul of the backend, but under no circumstances are any of the defense man available desirable.
The whole narrative by most here is head spinning, get rid of Edler, Tanev, Hutton, Biega, do not sign Trouba, Gardiner, Myers, so that leaves Hughes and Stecher
Get rid of Granlund, Goldobin, Sutter, Beagle, Schaller, Spooner, and only use present prospects and possible draft picks from getting rid of the already mentioned, because Benning can’t be trusted to make a trade or sign a UFA.
As I said, fcuking head spinning |

It was way easier when it was just the circle jerkers and drama queens.
It's a complicated world Bro, I hope you have some R&R booked to help you cope with the next couple weeks.

I'll admit, I'm generally pessimistic when it comes to these kids and he looked pretty dynamic at times last year but there's no way in hell he's turning the PP into one of the best in the league by himself.
Edler has his faults but he was pretty good last year on the PP. Teams at least need to respect his shot, which won't happen with Hughes.
Do you think Hughes gets the 17 PP points next year on the PP that Edler did?
That was in only 56 games so prorated to 25 or so? - belcherbd
Just watch and enjoy. I’ve never seen anyone do it like Quinn. No joke. He’ll be even better with Pettersson to play off of & Boeser teed up. |

So Benning won't sign Edler whom he is familiar with long term but we are expecting Trouba long term?
I am going to wait to see who we actually do sign or trade for first .

I fully expect our D will look pretty similar to last year but with a twist or 2. One good thing is there is nowhere to go but go up. |

Trouba is going to cost the Rangers about 8.0 and he is worth it reputation wise but I don't think skill wise he is worth it. I am aware of his point totals 8/50 . I have a feeling those numbers will go down . Nice pick up though for NYR |

I have a feeling either Rafferty or Woo might make it out of camp. Just a feeling . |

All fair points.
Although some may give Nighthawk a bit of a hard time, myself included at times, he is pretty good at dishing it out as well.
I don't think anyone could ever question his dedication, as a fan, to our favourite team.

We'll see, I certainly hope he'll prove effective right away.
Do you think he will outperform guys like Makar and Heiskanen.

I think there was 30 or 31 defensemen with 40 or more points in the entire league, at 8 million Trouba is worth it even if his offence comes down a bit. He’s only 25 years old too. |

I think he's a good player but not a #1 guy. It's a good trade for the rags but IMO he's pretty overrated on HB.
Had we of moved the 10th and Stetcher or Joulevi for him I would of been disappointed. |

This
Nighthawk gets constantly blasted for throwing out suggestions to improve the team but almost no one who rips him offers actual solutions, just blanket statements that can’t be criticized |

Closer to Subban or Ek return. He’s coming off of a career year. 50 points and being a shut down dman is a pretty big deal. Should have been multiple picks/prospects imo |

Makar & Heiskanen will score more goals, but Hughes will have highlight reel possessions leading to mind blowing assists on a nightly basis once they let him run with that opportunity. I would put $ on him having a better first full season than Rasmus Dahlin if given Edler’s PP1 mins (fewer goals, more points). |

Just read that other GM's are confused with the deal, they think they offered more. Chevy must be high on Pionk.
Trouba wanted to play in the East in the US so didn't make sense for other teams to pay up unless they just wanted to rent him for a year and then flip his RFA rights. |

I wouldn't rule out the Edler situation yet. There's still 2 weeks for either side to give in.
I'm cool with letting him walk though. |

As much as I either agree or disagree with him, there isnt a poster on this site who is more consistent with his views or opinions than him, which I dont think anyone can take away from him. |

I think what everyone wants is change and that ranges from hiring a President with experience to signing Panarin. I think we are just tired of this team spinning it's tires. |
