Doubt it. RFA compensation rules are pretty scary too. Kapanen at 5 mil over 7 years equates to a 1st, second and third. on a 7 year contract, anything over $6.1M AAV equates to 2 firsts, a second, and a third. 7.5 and up over 7 years is 4 firsts.

I can't imagine Kapanen getting much less than that. a 7 year contract has to be under $3.6M for a team to not give up a first.

I work with a Russian guy, very nice guy, I was working on something with him, and we got to chatting about the issues with Russian NHLers beating their wives.

There is another semi-feminist woman I work with, who joined the conversation, and I basically gave her the summary - "We're just talking about how it's quite legal in Russia to beat your wife up, it's a very weird culture when it comes to these things".

You could already see her jaw dropping.

The guy pipes up, in thick Russian accent, very casually - "yeah, but it's okay for a wife to beat her husband too". Which seemed to suggest to him it's all okay.

Nothing much followed, because the woman wouldn't say a word. But it was amazing to witness.
