Could they not have taken Trouba to arbitration and accepted the two year award?
- jcragcrumple

In short, no. The deadline for a team to file has already passed. Also, if the team files, the player selects the term.

As an arb eligible RFA, if he elects for arbitration, I believe the team gets to choose whether to accept the ruling for either one year or two

Yeah, the player would have to file in this scenario

got it...however, why bother if he really doesn't want to play here?...that's what happened in Winnipeg and why he was traded

Also just learned that neither side can ask for a 2 year deal if they are 1 year from UFA.

A lot of people think don't want to play in Buffalo.

And then they get here and love it

yuppers...am of the opinion that 31-overall is a goner...

hearing anything about florida as a trade candidate?...I know huberdeau was in the rumor mill for a bit

- Michael Pachla

No I didn't hear anything about the Panthers but I do know he will move the 31st. The 7th would have to be over the top for him to move it.

it was a short conversation

I’m happy to hear botts tried. Keep working those phones. Eventually something will happen.

Our closest trade near completion is probly vesey

Also, if he made the deal, he could have easily flipped him at the deadline if he chose not to re-sign.

At the price the rangers paid, this is a miss, plain and simple

I enjoy the details of it, but anytime you think you know something, there's a technicality somewhere that can trip you up.

I know that, just don't know what happened from a sabres standpoint...whether or not they made an offer and if so what it might have been

idk about that. Its a steep drop from pick 20 to 31. In our minds its easy, but a GM might really want those 11 extra spots.

31, McCabe and Nylander.

Next year's first and McCabe.

Next year's 2nd, 31 and McCabe.

7 and next year's 2nd for Trouba and the wpg 2020 1st.

It's not hard to beat the NYR offer. Whatever, I'm done crying about the spilled milk. Hopefully there's a good plan in place

idk if those packages make up 11 spots in WPG mind. Would have lovd Trouba at such a low cost. Draft pick capital is funky though. Never know how much a GM values a prospect they will get at a certain pick.

Shocked the player was as bad as it was in the package.
