I’d argue this is correct.
But we didn’t get Jacob Trouba so who knows. Maybe Eichel told Trouba to (frank) off |

Don't you know, it's easy to make trades.
31 is basically a 20. McCabe is basically a Pionk.
Everyone is lining up for our crap. - Powerslave
From what I understand... Pionk is about equivalent to Brandon Hickey. He not good. |

Paying skinner 9mm is the main reason he is here.
It is equivalent to a 10.25 contract he would sign in UFA at 7 years.
Yikes.

Trouba stole Eichel's fries at McDonald's one time when the USNDP team went out for dinner after a game. They have been enemies ever since. |

Someone should draft the NDSU football QB just for his name alone... he was born to play hockey and chose the wrong path.

I’m not on a ledge but thank you for the concern.
Skinner is here because he was paid a poop ton of money.
If they didn’t pay him a poop ton of money he is probably still not signed and headed to UFA.
It’s that simple.
The Sabres are/ have been bad.
The Sabres are still going to struggle to attract top talent unless they waive money at them.
This will continue until the Sabres get good. |

Sure it is - it just isn't going to work with everyone. The guy had some place that he wanted to go - it isn't a slight to us.

I don't post often anymore due to career and other such excuses but figured I'd drop a tiny bit of info I heard tonight while out with my friend who works in PSE. We were in on Trouba but sounded like he wasn't interested in a contract extension with us so we backed out. Last offer he heard was Bryson and #31
BUMP from Orphen22.
Thought that was an interesting tidbit and goes hand in hand with what others have said about NYR being the only place he would sign an extension. - JVince11
Interesting ...... trouba probly wanted to only go to the rangers. That’s been the rumor for awhile.
If botts did get trouba ..... Risto would’ve easily been shipped out after. |

Yes and no. I would argue that Skinner is the first marquee-type player to "want" to come here in a long time. And it sounds like it had more to do with his proximity to home and family than Eichel (though I'm sure he was still a factor in his decision). Yes, the Sabres had to pay him to stay, but rarely does a player of his talent reach free agency in his prime, and take a discount. He was going to get paid something similar, if not more, after July 1st by someone else if the Sabres didn't sign him. He gave Buffalo first dibs. Contrast this with, say, John Tavares (yes, he's a better talent) who had every intention of going to July 1st, and most likely leaving the Islanders.
This is much different than the likes of Okposo and Moulson, who benefited from very weak free agent markets, where Buffalo had to pay over and above market rate, which was grossly inflated for players of their caliber in the first place. |
