What is the over under of Chevy trading Morrissey so Pionk can have #44? |
|
|
|
Apparently Chevy Chirella isn't finished yet, and has a lot of balls in the air.
What to expect now? Ehlers get traded for _______ because his contract is too good?
Hard not to be cynical after Chevy lolly gags for 4 years when he knows the guy doesn't want to sign here. Rangers must just be laughing at this lopsided affair.
2 years to fix a 2 line center issue and he hands out a 5 year extension to Little and gives away a top pairing Dman? Please fire him now, and hire someone, anyone, even a poster off of HB.
Here are some good GM candidates:
Rexy, Ross77, Pete, Ultimate, me, Jetsnation, anyone standing on the street corner,...........unfrickin real - CharlieDog

Yes, Ehlers contract is too good so he has to go. Need cap room to sign Myers 6 x 5.
Sit back and watch it happen folks. |

Sorry, too late, Chirella needs a job and we can likely get him cheap. (Since that appears to be the direction at the moment) |

Come on dude, you’re not going to hire me over Chia Pet? Who’s next, Jay Feaster and Dave Nonis?
Chevy better watch himself fore he joins that list. |

I had to look Feasture and his story up,......... u know your hockey personel for sure. Might have to reconsider.
I don't know what else to say today, ..........except to likely bid ehlers adieu when he's traded for a third rounder and wait for the big Myers signing.
Oh well, I did discover basketball this spring and its a great game! Who would have thought? |

At this point anything is possible. Looking at the returns that top RHD have gotten in the past few years make one think.
Seth Jones got Nashville Ryan Johannson
Adam Larsson got New Jersey Taylor Hall
Dougie Hamilton plus a few pieces got Calgary Noah Hanifin and Elias Lindholm
and now
Jacob Trouba got the Jets Neal Pionk

Greatest scoring D over the past decade is EK65, and all he got in return was Tierney, Balcers, and 19th overall pick. He had something like 5 seasons of 70+ points and fetched a similar amount while under contract for an entire season at just 6M.....
Trouba's RFA rights fetched a 20th overall, and a quality RD. We all knew he would be a struggle to keep, so be happy that his rfa rights were pretty well equal with the greatest offensive D of the past decade.
Now package Pionk and Perrault together for a mid 1st round draft pick, sign Meyers 3 years at 5.75M AAV, and let Niku be the #3 RD

In all honesty, I think that defense is an overrated position in hockey. I look at the past 4 cup champs and none of their defensive corps screamed Stanley Cup. The last two champs had one superstar defenceman with 5 average guys who played simple games. I am hopeful that there is a bigger plan to land a 1B Center as all teams since the 2005 lockout outside of the Blackhawks all had at least two guys who could Center #1 lines.
In my opinion Center is the most pressing concern for this team right now. |

Corey Perry would be an excellent replacement for Tanev. Plus we could get him cheap. |

Hi Pete and all
The real story in this trade is that trouba and his agent made it clear that they would not re-sign with any other team other than the rangers... also if trouba was to be traded to any team other than the rangers, he would sit out the year until UFA status.
It was reported that many teams offered better than what the rangers did. Chevy was backed into a corner and had no choice.. if trouba was a professional, He would’ve accepted a trade to wherever, played out the year and then join the rangers next summer.
Karma will get trouba. |

He would still owe that team a year. A player cannot sit out an entire year and have his status changed from RFA to UFA. The player is obligated to play out the last year of his RFA year before he becomes a UFA.

There is every reason to suspect that Chevy got backed into a corner by Trouba and his agent.

That’s correct. In that case.... he would’ve either sat out half the year or immediately demand to be traded again |

yeah.
imagine him, telling his employer exactly what he wants including being transparent about winnipeg not being the place for him.
karma is going to go town on his ass for wanting to be free to choose the city he works in. |

He’s not a UFA... he’s a year away from that... be a professional... play out the year.. next summer go to New York or where ever you want. |

so he walks for nothing next year?
chevy made a mistake by not trading him 3 years ago. nobody but himself to blame for the ass return he got. |

He could’ve been traded to various other teams and netted a better return for the jets...
But him and Overhardt threatened to not play half the year or demand to be traded again if he was traded to any teams there than the rangers...
As a professional.... he should’ve let Chevy trade him to wherever the best offer came from... played out the year with the team he was traded to and go to New York next summer as a UFA |
