It should be Pete in charge, with everyone else as various other high ranking positions.

It would be one hell of a “war room”

What is the over under of Chevy trading Morrissey so Pionk can have #44?
- HeyThereGuy

BREAKING NEWS!!!! Trouba had to move so his fiance could focus on attending med school. Apparently they did not know about University of Manitoba........

Coward looking for a scape goat. Let's see how he handles playing on a team that offers little shelter.

[quote=bikeguy99]Greatest scoring D over the past decade is EK65, and all he got in return was Tierney, Balcers, and 19th overall pick. He had something like 5 seasons of 70+ points and fetched a similar amount while under contract for an entire season at just 6M.....
Trouba's RFA rights fetched a 20th overall, and a quality RD. We all knew he would be a struggle to keep, so be happy that his rfa rights were pretty well equal with the greatest offensive D of the past decade.

Now package Pionk and Perrault together for a mid 1st round draft pick, sign Meyers 3 years at 5.75M AAV, and let Niku be the #3 RD

👍...... comparisons are good....

There is every reason to suspect that Chevy got backed into a corner by Trouba and his agent.

More of the story emerges on the Trouba deal, the GM was boxed in. Having said all this, there was likely ample time in the past to move him.

Trouba was a good shutdown D but could not and will not quarter back a pp. As JN once said, he was like a stump on the pp. Thank goodness its over, finally, so time to move on.

I wonder what the ask is for Copp as Overcharge is his agent as well.

In all honesty, I think that defense is an overrated position in hockey. I look at the past 4 cup champs and none of their defensive corps screamed Stanley Cup. The last two champs had one superstar defenceman with 5 average guys who played simple games. I am hopeful that there is a bigger plan to land a 1B Center as all teams since the 2005 lockout outside of the Blackhawks all had at least two guys who could Center #1 lines.

In my opinion Center is the most pressing concern for this team right now.

Agreed. Scheifs is a fantastic 1C, Little is a 3C at best, which is redundant, as Raslovic is quite comparable and far cheaper. So ship out Little if possible, Kuli, Pionk, Perrault, Lowry, and sign Douchene 9M AAV

Connor (6.75?) Scheifs (6.125) Wheels (8.25) = 21.125M
Ehlers (6M) Douchene (9M?) Laine (7M?) = 22M
Vesalainen(0.9) Raslovic (0.9) Appleton (0.75) = 2.55M
Tanev (1.85) Copp(1.85) Spacek (0.75) = 4.45M

Morrissey (3.15) Buff (7.6)
Chia (2.75) Meyers (5.85?)
Stanley (0.85) Niku (0.775)

Forwards total - 50.125
Defense total - 20.975
Goalies total 7.4M

Total = 78.5M. Obviously the projected salaries are extremely subjective, and the no movement clauses make many of removed contracts highly unlikely. But one can dream of a cap compliant roster with many young core pieces locked up.

Knew that Copp and Trouba were buddies but didn't realize that they had the same agent. Wonder how that will affect Copp's future in Wpg? Hopefully it doesn't.

Think the Jets will draft any more of "Overcharge's" clients? I'm thinking they would be leary at best when they hear who the agent is.

Will be interesting to hear what Ranger fans are saying about Trouba in two years. Will he be another Wade Redden - or Brad Park, Barry Beck, etc?

Chevy has nobody to blame but himself! He knew Trouba wanted out of here right from the draft just like Kane asking to be traded every single year. Chevy waited too long, as always & got bent over hard (had to lol)! His trades are completely reactionary, whereas a good GM is proactive in building a team. Chevy also handed out a plethora of sh*tty contracts, once again putting us in THIS cap position where we need to give up talent. Why blame Trouba, the guy was honest & clear in his intentions right from the start?

No to Duchene. He’s basically Hayes, but a year older.

Okay, now I get it. That was bikeguy99's proposition. I screwed up my quote. I was agreeing with his comparison of the Karlsson and Trouba trades. Jesus is definitely a keeper, maybe slightly overpaid....

Hi Pete and all

The real story in this trade is that trouba and his agent made it clear that they would not re-sign with any other team other than the rangers... also if trouba was to be traded to any team other than the rangers, he would sit out the year until UFA status.

It was reported that many teams offered better than what the rangers did. Chevy was backed into a corner and had no choice.. if trouba was a professional, He would’ve accepted a trade to wherever, played out the year and then join the rangers next summer.

Karma will get trouba.

- Kunit

This was kinda my point- he did play them to get what he wanted. What that leaked info does not clarify, at least from what I have seen, is if there were conditions on contract etc if Trouba was traded to another team.

Great write-up. Always interesting to see others speculation. Something like that might work. But may I offer a few comments:
1. Note you are short at least 1D and 1F
2. How about we trade M. Perreault, N. Pionk and N. Beaulieu to Detroit (they need d-men) for Andreas Athanasiou ($3M) - and forget M. Duchene
3. This allows us to keep A. Lowry and Spacek can be 13th forward. Saving $3.1M.
4. Add T. Poolman to d-core - add .8M to cap hit
5. This makes this year's cap hit $76.2 - and room to play with next season
6. But with Athanasiou, Morrissey, Niku, Appleton and Roslovic up as RFA's next year we will need the space $$$ wise (and more)
7. One major problem might be Laine "thinks" he is worth $10M I would bet - he may be offer-sheeted - or he may sit?
Anyways great write-up, you must have spent a lot of time!
