I am having a tough time seeing the logic behind signing Lee. Lee will be turning 29 within 2 weeks. He will command a salary somewhat higher than the 26 year old Saad who is cost controlled for the next couple years. This how clubs get into Cap trouble. The Seabrook contract should have taught us that and there are many other examples of that league wide. - 67hawks
I m not saying the hawks should i m saying what if. Personally seeing his age pass his production probably starts to decline in next couple years and 7 x 7 um no. |

Since I think neither side will move off of the 50% HRR split, the cap will go on as before.
The compliance buyouts were put in so that teams could be "in compliance" with the new cap rules - the HRR split was dramatically moved in favor of the owners and the cap was dramatically reduced - from something like over $70MM to about $60MM (IIRC). Most of the league would not have been in compliance with the new cap had compliance buy outs not been in place.
My logic and analysis says that this won't happen in the next CBA and the league won't won't teams that have overspent to get the advantage of having compliance buyouts. - StLBravesFan
All I'm saying is that it is based on some unknowns and predictions. You might be right and maybe there will be no compliance buyouts, but much stranger things have happened. Nobody can definitively say what will or will not be in the next CBA. Having or not having compliance buyouts are both well within the realm of possibility. There can be a lot of ways they justify it, even if it isn't the same justification they used last time. I'm not suggesting the Hawks should bank on a compliance buyout, but I would not be shocked to see changes to the buyout rules in the future. |

I would love for Stan to get into a bidding war with Vegas and Tampa, with Stan saying, we will only give a 6h rounder, you want us to help your cap, we will give you a 6th rounder, ok we will throw in one of our Zamboni's

The obvious would be Bettman going away.
No need for a 6 team league, but what good is it that
more teams every year are entering cap hell, imagine
the poor poor owners giving the players 10% more, so
the players can share a measly $8 mil more per 23.
Yep, they'll scream bloody murder. - gazza53
More teams to help grow the game in non hockey markets. Hockey is like tenth in tv viewership compared to other sports in the US. Like it or not there aren't going to be less teams and Bettman isn't going anywhere because he works for the owners and they've made more money under him than any period in NHL history |

Damn....
Multiple teams I’ve spoken to are very concerned about this cap forecast. Many fear that when the NHL and NHLPA settle on an upper limit this week, it will be LESS than $82M for next season, or an increase of only slightly more than $2M. - mrpaulish
Interesting as soon as the new cba renewal is coming up the teams have no money. Smfh, the owners are so predictable

The Trouba deal with the Rangers is ridiculous.
Having said that it seems like every team is looking for defenders. It will be a sellers market. The price for the top pairing defenders will be crazy high (although I guess no one told Cheveldayoff). It will still be very high for 2nd pairing defenders (Maatta). Some GM might even overpay for 3rd pairing defenders that have potential to develop into 2nd pairing defenders. So I am ok with Bowman stock piling defenders at the NHL, AHL, Juniors levels and maybe Byram in this years draft. The hope is that some team in desperation will overpay for a defensemen currently under the Blackhawks control. And if they are willing to seriously overpay for any defensemen under the Hawks control I am ok with Stan making the move. - -Doh-
Like anyone else I was pissed when I heard the return for Trouba, how the Hawks could have easily matched that and if they did they were getting real close to setting their D for the next 6-7-8 yrs. Also thought as a Hawks fan this is what the return for players are when the league knows you're in cap hell...........
But then this from Dreger. Seems Trouba would only approve to 1 or two teams!!! Talk about backed into a corner. With this info WPG did ok IMO.
Interesting #NHLJets chat on TSN 1050 with @DarrenDreger. Saying Chevy was "boxed in a little bit" and that "Trouba made it abundantly clear that there were specific teams that he would go to." The list? Not 10 or 5 teams "I think it was 1 or 2 to be fair."

TRADE BAIT: GM Kevin Cheveldayoff says #nhljets have a lot of balls in the air. So what’s next?
Belief is Jets offered Nikolaj Ehlers to #Canes for one of their right-shooting defencemen.
--- - Tyler Cameron
I think the balls in the air are their own after that groin blast they took in the Trouba deal!!!

Stan has a plan. Looks like ?
https://670thescore.radio...easy-decision-good-player - glennjpawlak22
That doesn’t sound like Turcotte. He mentions them possibly jumping right into the NHL if they do well right from camp. Turcotte is committed to Wisconsin, not that he can’t negate that but still. That also removes Podkolzin as well. So Cozens or Byram. Also, possibly Kakko if he falls to us at #3. |
