After living with Darcy for too many years, I loved the fact that Murray tried to better this team getting good players. ROR was a great trade when we got him and the money he is making is going to be WAY below what a second line center will make in this years FA market. (see Duchene contract July 1)
I love the E-Kane trade too. there was nothing wrong with getting those players. Did he over pay, maybe but at least he tried. The players that we traded away are not exactly lighting up the NHL by any means either... - hehateme
You can’t tell this delta bravo anything. He is a beer league referee. Take his takes for gospel even though most are loaded with disclaimers.

Negotiate signing him 8 for 10 mil per. I would be willing to move forward with him. I’d bet on him. - Hatboro_Swords
1 season with more then 30 goals
way more banged up then skinner
no way I move pick 7 for a rental
and he would be 37 in his 8th year if signed to an 8 year extension
If I am moving pick 7 I want
OEL, or Marner, or MacKinnon, or Point, or Seguin, etc |

Raw deal...
Murray swung for the fences when his team was down 3 runs with the bases emptied.
He needed to hit a few singles and doubles first before making those types of moves |

it should be no more than Nylander, hickey and the STL 2021 second rounder...pulling $9m off the books for NSH is huge so let's not overpay - Michael Pachla
They'd probably want Fitz or Borgen instead of Hickey but I agree. Not too much.
I'd try to shoe-horn Tage instead of Nylander if I give a better pick too. Nylander has such a higher scoring ceiling that I want him to have more NHL time before giving up. |
|

|
I am down with all of that because it doesn't hurt you long term either
Zucker has term left and at a semi reasonable cap hit and you're not giving Duchene $10 million and 7 years - Stripes77
Yes. Love PK so much more than EK65 due to term.
This needs to he done. |

I don't disagree. but I would rather have a GM that is always looking for talent and has the balls to make a deal.

he had jack Eichel on base when he pulled off the deals for ror and Lehner...might even say reinhart too |

GMTM had no vision for a team and SUCKED at drafting for the most part. outside of reinhart and eichel what good players did he draft? hell a 7th rounder might end up being his 3rd best draft pick.. also the lehner trade and kulikov trade are baffling. |

I want to see deals this offseason but I don't want to see deals to make deals
Say they add PK and get Duchene to sign here you're looking at $38 million in cap spent on 4 players in Eichel Skinner Duchene and PK
This team doesn't have the depth to be able to handle that kind of top heavy payroll.
This is where having all of those draft picks that Murray gave away would be helpful |

At the time Eichel was on deck and Reinhart was still fighting his way through AAA |

I hear ya. And I agree. I never said that Murray's deals were the Best deals. But I just simply can't blame him for trying to make the team better. Hind sight is 20/20

why is everyone so GD obsessed with the Cap? Franking spend the Money on Talent. I'll bet anyone on here that if we spend to the cap and win the cup not one person would biotch... edit (that last statement would be a stretch because some people just female dog to female dog)
Get talent when you can, if you can get PK, Duchene, Ehlers DO IT. who cares if we have to let a player or tow go, price you have to pay to be good. - hehateme
(frank) the cap, get some good players in here. |

I was all about the ROR trade and the EK trade. It got me excited but it wasn't the time to be making those types of trades. A bunch of posters here even said so, and low and behold they were right.
Adding a player like Zucker and maybe swinging for a guy like PK would be a huge offseason here.
I just don't see how spending and trading for almost $20 million on 2 players is beneficial for this Sabres this year |

The thing about those trades, however, is that if Murray doesn't go out and sign the likes of Okposo and Moulson, he probably still has a job here. |
