Risto isn't a bum and he's not that great either. He excels in the offensive zone, his transition game is horrible and his defense in his own end is well below average. He plays too high in the lineup with too many minutes.

He's not that great. Brendan Dillon is much better.

Trouba is a special case. His gm was handcuffed. Being willing to only go to one or two teams.. his trade value is not indicative of his actual value. I'll put internet cash on, if Risto is traded, receives more value because of his contract amount and term.

No it doesn't. He's good at what he does. Just mentioned you have to give to get. I like Ehlers a lot, great producer, still very young. A trade for him without using Risto? Sure, sign me up. I'm saying that if it took that, I wouldn't absolutely hate it. Especially if getting Myers for a REASONABLE price. That's all. Both.

Risto is not as good as Trouba, but with Trouba off the market, Risto's value increases because the supply of RHD has decreased, and therefore the demand for available RHD has increased

As a Dman, he is definately 3rd pairing worthy (coverage and transition skills required he doesn't have)

Agreed. Trouba's extension will make his value as a player clear. If he goes the one year route, that would be entertaining, but it's the Rangers, he's signing long term.

It sounds like he'll sign in the metro. I'd be hard pressed to believe all 3 teams wouldn't pay him what he wants. But if that ever happens, I bet he sets his sights on the outer teams. Buffalo, Boston, Philly, Pittsburgh, Washington. I'm sure it won't get that far.
