If the player elects arbitration, the team decides one year or two

If the team elects arbitration, the player decides one year or two

However, lunaion pointed out that neither situation is applicable because it's the last year of RFA eligibility

I still think it's a miss but i've moved on

With what it took to trade for him,
I think it’s safe to say that Trouba (his agent) probably made it we’ll known who he would be willing to extend with (if anyone)

That’s the only explanation for such a small return

And even if they wanted to keep Risto,
It’s still pretty tough for me to believe Botts wouldn’t have beaten that deal in a heartbeat if he thought Trouba would sign here

Homie said we inquired,
so I’m sure Botts had a pretty good idea on the situation

Ummm. I would do that. That would free up Risto to get traded.

31. 2nd. And nylander

Think it would be one of the other of those with a lesser piece on the other end.

What does Bogo have to do with Duchene? The issue with Duchene is making another huge, long term commitment.

nah, you have to go back and reed..

pick 31, another pick, and a young player
- homiedclown

Do you need to even give up that much given his year last year? Nashville is trying to get out from under that contract, it appears.

Why give up assets for a declining 9 million dollar player whose value will only be slightly higher than Risto's next year?

Sure he's fun to watch...He's also fun to play against.

Horvat looked good this year but Petterson is their 1C of the future. Horvat is a 50 pt center.

THIS!!!

Why are we taking on a bigger contract for a guy heading towards Okposo territory?

You have been here long enough to see enough bad takes that this is at best a mediocre take.

Don't think subban should cost much. Contract plus declining play and defensive liability.
- TheSabresTaco

eventually we have to get a d man who is good at the defense

He's one year removed from getting 3rd in the Norris race...

I heard the prospect and pick would be lesser value then the 2nd and nylander

think more smith like prospect and a 3rd or 4th, pending year

if it's gonna happen, it will happen by friday

- homiedclown

I am assuming that the preds want Duchene and need the space.

Absolutely I would gladly do that deal. Then ship Risto to where ever or keep him as a 2nd pairing d

Dahlin - PK
McCabe - Risto
Pilut - bogo / Nelson

That’s not great but better

I’ll give you that, I’m just not ready to put a multi year all-star, Norris candidate (did he win) in the same comparison with Okposo

I actually thought his contract was longer. It’s only a 3x9.

If they retain a bit off the top that’s not soo bad actually. He’s still an easy 40-50 pt defensemen in 65-70 games each year. Would be a helluva vet to lead/teach the kids.

31 OA, Nelson, and a winger prospect. I’d be on board.

Im not saying he'll be okposo bad, but he got significantly worse between then and now in a very short time.

We put Risto in a position to fail and he still had a higher WAR than Subban. Obviously not enough for me to say that Risto is better, but enough to say that at 9 million for 3 more years, this probably isn't the acquisition we need right now.

why in the world would be want good players on this team.

Who gives a poop about cap space. Its 3 years and we have the room. Plus if we could unload, BOGO and Okposo it's a wash.

Dahlin/PK
Montour/Risto
McCabe/Pilut
Bogo

I like that quite a bit actually. Could still trade McCabe for a forward maybe.
