CBus' own fault for signing Nathan Horton despite not being able to insure his contract due to not passing medicals due to his back and then Horton immediately being never able to play again. The Clarkson contract at least was insured and Toronto didn't care as they can afford Horton if it means they get LTIR space. All their own stupidity that led to this - Takemedrunkimhome
And if they can't resign Duchesne, Panarin and Bobrovsky they'll really be up poop creek without a paddle. They have basically traded all their draft picks for the next 20 years. |

Really? ... let's hope he gets an offer from another team, we'd still get compensation according to RDS.

Meh. He has not been happy for a while since the team barely used him. |

I don't blame the team, but don't blame Hudon if he wants to leave. |

Why does anybody care? He's 25 in a week and has 110 games, 39 points and a -18 rating in his career. At some point in time he had to poop or get off the pot...maybe he wants to go overseas and try to create some value for a return to the NHL...otherwise he's a below replacement level player so I'm not sure why anybody cares |

Neither do I. Surely he has a spot on another team. |

he never took advantage of the opportunities given to him. He either got injured or didn't play well enough. His biggest problem is better kids than him are ready to make the jump....
If his name was Smyth....nobody would care but zitface is a hometown boy so media has to make a big thing about him. |

I don't care. I don't think he's an NHL player either. But to call him a tool because of this? |

Name calling is uncalled for, on that I also agree...it's his life, he's making what he thinks is the best decision |

most players refuse the qualifying offer, they still have time to negotiate a higher salary or longer term. |

7 years ... no thanks!!!
Long contracts are a BAD IDEA (ie. David Clarkson) for anyone who isn't a superstar. |

Not ideal but acceptable given UFA, need and likely not the right option available by trade. If he gets that and Ghost and Leddy get traded for low values I'd probably not find it as acceptable...but probably still acceptable |

UFA don't cost you assets and the salary cap slowly goes up every year. I don't want to unload quality prospects for something equivalent when you can potentially sign a player via UFA but the terms have to make sense. |

Is there a better option? Habs would keep all of their picks and prospects. |
