1) He buckled and gave Nylander too much..Nylander was the contract negotiation he had to win.
2) He walks Mathews into Free Agency and gave him too much for what he has accomplished in his time in the league.
Now GM's are being active and he is stuck because he either can't do anything (other GM's smell the blood) or he is waiting on getting Marner (who we will give a massive overpayment) done.
He can't do Kap or Johnson until Marner is done and Marner isn't going to sign which exposed the 2 most prone players to offersheets that the Leafs have. |

I think what fans forget is he knows whats happening in the NHL. Which is a pretty damn important part of the salary cap.
These geniuses on HB only know what Bobby Mac tells us and its not a lot.
