The good news is they do have 5 years to get the job done. And that's what it took to get guys like Malkin re-signed long term on their 3rd contract.

Marleau, Zaitsev and Brown have to go, obviously.

With that cap space cleared, they'll have enough money to keep Marner and Kapanen.

They'll need to use Nylander and Johnsson to upgrade the defense.

They'll also need to get more depth with cheap contracts and Marlies.

Kadri, Perry, and another nasty bugger would do wonders against the Bruins.

I honestly think some on this board think MM and AM is already at McDavid’s level.

A part of me wants to see Oilers failing hard this year again, and perhaps McDavid will demand a trade to Toronto and Toronto only.

Perhaps Edmonton will do 1:1 swab for AM? Because you know, some guy on this site told me he’s as good as McDavid. Surely, Edmonton must feel the same way, no?
