My failed optimism is presented as the basic landscape for most Leaf fans - even ones who try to temper their expectations. There's no need to get snippy about it.

I think that if he comes here and he'll get blamed for half of our losses because he's not the player he was.

I am not saying he couldn't be valuable. I'm saying that a player of his reputation playing at his current deprecated level should not play in this market.

You still owe Dougie an apology.

That guy got beat up by everybody

doesn't have to fight, just has to crosscheck DeBrusk, Marchand, McAvoy or Pastrnak as soon as one of the Leafs players gets run

I'm pretty sure that if I make it to the NHL, teammates will call me Wedger.

Yeah no. Players don't live through the media like fans do.

If that was the case Gardiner would of demanded a trade years ago.

To: EDM - Marleau + Kadri + C. Brown + Zaitsev + Sparks = 18.100 mil

To TOR: - Lucic + RNH + Kassian + Larsson = 18.120 mil
(could substitute K. Russell for Larsson - or sub Benning for Larsson)
(TOR would ave 2.1 mil if it was Benning)

EDM buys out Marleau - he signs for 1M in SJ

TOR trades Lucic to X-team for a nice sweetener (Bracco or 2020 2nd + 2019 4th)

HUUUUGE TRADE but everybody does ok here - Leafs could even trade RNH for
a top 4 RHD + 3rd line center ....I'll wait for the proverbial barrage

- paulozz

In theory, this would work and it would make Dubas' job so much easier as he only has to deal with one team.
With that said, it doesn't solve the cap problems for anyone.. All it does is transfer cap issues from one team to another.

Only after he crosschecked a guy from behind into the boards.

just got off the fone with one of the ducks players.

Perry is healthy, already training super-duper extra hard this summer, drinking down gary roberts shakes and knows that last few down years were one-offs.

Playing with better linemates in toronto, on the low-end, i could see him scoring 72 goals this year.

He was probably the Leaf I hated the most over the past 25 years.

Absolutely no value whatsoever, and it seemed like every 5th game, he'd do something stupid.

Dangerously stupid.

I think when they're in their home markets they do, though. At least THIS home market which is 24x7 noise. That's half the problem. All of their friends and family are RIGHT THERE and they are exposed to the media and they live and breathe it, too.

They lose the insulation layer.

That's just my opinion.

Yeah, I never liked him either.

Perhaps, he had too much truculence?

I just spoke with a guy who knows a hot dog vendor on Lakeshore Blvd.

Every day, at 2 pm, Perry gets a tofu sausage on a bun.

I was going to say probably similar to laine. Although after I checked he ended up having 20 assists. I thought he had like 23 goals and 2 assists at one point.

I just looked up his stats:

25 games for the Leafs.

2 assists.

38 minutes in penalties: 4 minors, 4 majors, 1 game misconduct.

So it seems kinda bizarre I have such a hate on for him.

You're right. Yvon Lambert gets a pass for scoring the OT goal that eliminated the Bruins in '79
