I think when they're in their home markets they do, though. At least THIS home market which is 24x7 noise. That's half the problem. All of their friends and family are RIGHT THERE and they are exposed to the media and they live and breathe it, too.

They lose the insulation layer.

Don't get me wrong, I think Perry would be a good fit here. Play him with Kadri, It just wouldn't surprise me if a team offers him $3-$4M per year.

Right. Things are going well for them and the team right now. They are effective players. There wasn't a lot of love for Marleau this year nor Zaitsev when things didn't go well.

We could go on about this. Both sides make a fair point. Most NHL players insulate themselves, I agree. Zaitsev clearly didn't and wants out. Marleau wants out because his family wants to go. Do they just miss California that much? Or are they struggling with media negativity? I don't know. I bet there's some of both.

The bottom line is that while we would welcome Perry to the lineup at a reasonable cap hit, I'd be worried that he'd be the whipping boy when things went poorly, especially because he is highly unlikely to be very effective given his year-over-year progression in goals of 34-19-17-6.

perry looked so obviously slow if a couple games I caught last year that it was almost painful to watch.

he's been through a few knee injuries. I'm not sure he'll have the speed to keep up on this team.
