Matthews is overpaid. Marner will likely also be overpaid. And Nylander is definitely overpaid. Tavares was a UFA and that was the cost of doing business.

But Rielly, Kadri and probably Andersen are underpaid.

Reality is, they have to pick which ones to keep and which ones to move.

Marleau, Zaitsev and Brown are on the block. And maybe Nylander needs to be moved too but at the end of the day, they have to keep the right guys and go from there.

Corey Perry got bought out today.

Considering the Leafs will be picking through the scrap bins, they should definitely give Perry a try at the right price.

And the right price is 1 million, 1 year.

He's probably finished (his 30-50 goal seasons are long gone) but that's the type of guy they're missing in their top 9. On a line with Kadri and maybe on the PP sometimes, he'd (frank) poop up and might be able to score 15-20 again on the cheap. And a playoff kind of guy too.

The league already fit the max amount that they're willing to pay players every year. That's the salary cap. Individual salaries are meaningless in that context.
