The problem is a person that has never watched a game before game 3 of the finals, getting an LGB tattoo on their ass Bandwagoners suck. Sure, let them spend their money. I get that. Blues benefit from that. But bandwagoners are annoying and suck

People who don't really follow the Blues, who act as excited about this Cup win as those of us who've lived and died with this team our whole lives, are annoying I agree. But I focus on this: some of those bandwagoners just never followed hockey, and were made fans by this run. Some of the ones who will ignore hockey as soon as Blues aren't winning, have kids who were just converted for life.

Great post!
And that means the St. Louis / Missouri area will hopefully keep a steady stream of players entering the league for years!
Hockey wins again!
Edit: And more 2nd generation kids from alumni who settle down as well!

How about they just dumped a large amount of money on our club fueling our addiction for many years to come.

Everyone starts somewhere.

But then, the team could just suck forever and you wouldn't need to deal with being accepting of new fans.

Sure seems like the anti-bandwagon fan argument was lost when the NHL owners decided that they were going to leverage corporate money via luxury boxes.

I dunno. I love to watch hockey, but I don’t have the insights of a player as I’ve never played. I love to follow the off season maneuvering and figure out how teams maximize the talent on their roster in the cap era.

All I know is that anytime a purity test is introduced for something like team fandom, I wonder if that’s a step too far. For many, successful sports teams are as much about community pride as it is the actual sport. It’s a way to find social connections in an otherwise neutral stranger interaction.

But hey, what do I know?

Every fandom has its fan police. I just don't understand not wanting as many people as possible to share the joy.

I do police the stupid wrestlemania hooting during the games. GET OFF MY LAWN!

Maybe I was too quick to criticize. If not for Brett Hull I might not have followed as early as I did. Kids have to start somewhere and it's awesome that more people watched during this incredible run. The ones that don't care will fall away quickly enough and the Blues might now have a lot more young local fans that will grow up with this team.
