But we gave up that 5th rounder who will be Jamie Benn.

With the bidding war that was about to ensue for Hayes, I wonder why he settled for the Flyers offer when they weren't his first choice. How much money did he leave on the table?

I just hate that they're basically not going to have any flexibility going forward, probably until the expansion draft honestly. It's going to be pretty tight trying to sign their RFAs and a backup.

But dude, Fletcher has been throwing away all of our prospects and draft picks to make the team better now, just like everyone said he would.

Only problem is Frost doesn't play RW. Every time I've seen him play live or on tv he plays C or LW. It would be interesting to see if he could adapt to the RW spot though.

I feel like I've read on here that Lindblom can play either wing.

Maybe the Flyers get lucky and trade JvR to Arizona...

Is there enough cap space to sign a player who is actually a difference maker in Panarin?
- PLindbergh31

No.

But he wasn’t coming to Philly anyway. Last I checked Quenneville isn’t the coach and Philadelphia isn’t New York or Miami in terms of opportunity for a model fiancé.

If Bill isn’t freaking out, why is three quarters of this board?

My head is still spinning from everything the Flyers have done.. I've hated every move they've made this off-season. The Flyers are turning me into the Grumpy Cat of Hockey Fandom.

The Flyers hired... HATE HIM!

The Flyers traded for.... HATE HIM!

The Flyers signed... HATE HIM!

It is crazy that they're going to be a cap team in one offseason. I tried to backread a little, I don't absolutely hate the Hayes contract. Little bit high, and a little too long. But they definitely are a better team than they were last year, we'll see how that translates on ice I guess.

But But But we were all told Philly wasn't Hayes first choice right? RIGHT? Why is he here? Why didn't he wait for July 1? No one is answering this question.

Well for simplicity's sake I'd start with Bill is a professional, being paid to conduct himself in a professional manner and 3/4s of the board (more like all of it) are just fans expressing themselves on a hockey forum.

Has the Hayes signing been formally announced by the Flyers? I havent seen anything yet on their Twitter feed or official website. Does this delay mean anything? Sorry if addressed here already.

So... question. Are you guys likely to deal out another Dman? If so who is it to be?

And of course... wanna take jack Johnson? >_>

I would think a Dman is on the way out however they may just sit tight and see what happens out of camp. Braun might have just been an insurance plan. The biggest issue last season is we didnt have a backup plan for a lot of things. If the young guys didnt meet expectations we had nothing to fall back on and thats what happened especially with NoPa

A bit concerned the number of people that are defending the recent moves. Is it because it is so obvious that these moves are laughably bad that the fans are simply circling the wagons?

I'm not sure I understand why people didn't expect the Flyers to spend more this year?

Most of the money is going to be spent on their RFAs...which are going to be paid way more than they should.

It was known they were going to be aggressive offseason because they needed to improve and fans wanted them to improve. So they start to improve and now people are going crazy they are spending too much? Am I missing something, where are all those free superstars people were expecting?

He's been given a mandate. This is the Flyers MO going forward.
- MJL

I hope that guys like Frost, Farabee, and Ratliff develop enough in the next 1-2 years to get spots and fill the roster holes.

I’m sure even with the MO of win now, the current GM would rather have those guys playing then making overpayments/market prices for top 6 UFA guys.

Also maybe Provy, Sanheim and Myers will develop to the point where they can carry their D pair, and he won’t have to trade assets for veteran defenseman to help them grow into that role.

He filled needs this season the most expensive way you can. But they still have a pipeline and picks.

I truly hope it’s not the way they operate every year.

Was going all in on a max deal for Hayes the wrong time to do this? I understand the answer and reasons if you say yes, it’s bad timing, Hart needs a year or two, the young D as well.

But it’d be nice to see what Giroux can do with some help while he is still elite, so an argument can be made that it was good timing to do this deal now.

Can or will they do this every year. God I hope not. We know it’s not sustainable and doesn’t work.

Awesome. I've heard a bit it might be Ghost... I know a lot of you were insanely high on him as a rookie and such. What the hell happened since then?

And... a first and Johnson for Ghost? Dont even know why hes lost favor with you guys yet and I'll most likely take him lol
