His moves got them there once! That's the point. It wasn't sustainable. He then had to trade Richards and Carter due to cap issues and a lack of prospects in the system. His methods were not sustainable in a cap era which is why he stepped down.

He also got them to the ECF twice, the Stanley Cup Finals, a team that was leading the league the next year before injuries and running out of steam. And Past the first round multiple times. He had one of the most successful runs in team history.

But whatever dude. Sometimes you need change. He seemed to do just fine in the salary cap era until they tried to win one for Snider.

Well I mean. There are a lot factors. The most recent? Reluctance by the GM to do much of anything, including fire his coach when it was painfully obvious to everyone in the hockey world except said GM and MJL that it was time.

But remember? It’s not the coaches fault nor is it his job to have his players prepared to play. They are professionals after all, not human beings.

It involves drafting developing a core of players and then once you get close, supplementing with other methods.

Totally forgot about the G suspension, but yeah super annoying team to play against back then. It lessened my frustration a little bit to see the Devils get smoked by the Kings in the Game 6 of the final lol.
