Is he? I can see Seattle picking him. - Fenrir
Idk, I assume he doesn’t have clauses or he wouldn’t be rumored out there. He strikes me as guy who could use a change of scenery |

Buch is getting 3-4 at a minimum. I believe he will be bridged, but with how he finished last year, he isn't making 4th line money.
I'm not sure what Trouba signs at. If we do the Hayes plan with him and give him 1 year, he's probably going to want in the 6 range. He's a RD and a pretty good one, that alone will get him more money. I also don't think the team traded for him with the intention of only giving him a 1 yr deal.
We don't have the time to wait until all this comes off the books. If you are signing Panarin, you need the cap space July 1st. You can wait on some of the guys in RFA, but that might not be the best look to wait too long. - 2sticks1puck
You get to go over 10% before opening night I believe

Yeah you do. You still have to account for enough to get under the cap though. If for example you try to play the waiting game with Smith, both buyout periods end and you can't trade him, you are kinda screwed. It's best to kinda have that under control well before you have to. |

I am probably alone here, but I don't actually want Staal going anywhere.
Shatty is hard to move on from (even aside from his contract) because he represents a swing and miss. He has never been what we hoped and there's that underlying "maybe he'll figure it out." element, for some at least. But, with what is in the cupboard it's time to move along.
Smith was another swing and miss, but when we consider the best option is to plant him firmly in the way of prospects and overpay him for 4th line duty and 7 minutes a night, ba-bye.
Staal, on the other hand, improved his play last season. He is not what he was once upon a time, but he is a consummate professional, a great teammate, a locker room leader, a PK demon and steadying influence for the incoming young corps.
Still overpaying for what you get, yes, but we can't buyout every guy that ages and has his play drop off. It's simply not feasible. - Tonybere
Not alone, I agree with you on every word. I have no issues with Staal. I get that he's not the best, but I can live with the pains he brings. He's just a vanilla defenseman making way more than he should. But I hate the contract, not the player. |

I agree too. Staal is the least of the problems right now, which are really just the 3 contracts, 4 with Hank. He’d be fine in the 6-7th D role |

11 for Panarin
Trouba is on books for 5.5 this year and probably 7.5 on next contract.
Buch 1.5 -1.75 mill
Lemeiux 1.5
Thats about 19 mill.
Trade Stinky -4mill
Trade Vesey -1.7 mill = 5.7 mill added
That gives us plenty of $$ and thats not even taking into acct Staal, Shatty, and Smiths $$ which will come off the books in one way or another this season or next.
Not a bad situation at all...AND Hank is done in 2 years as well - rrentz
One tweak, Trouba is an RFA and eligible for arbitration. The $5.5 mil is what he made last year. |

I guess you are right there. I didn't realize Buch, Lemeiux and ADA needed contracts this summer. Thought they were in the final year coming up.
In that case, we need to try and move Vesey, Stinky AND Nam ( ) in the next 2 weeks. And moving Smith in any way possible would be pretty imperative as well. |

In my spare time. TJ makes it sound so fun, plus it's probably the only job not in the jungle you get to wear a pith helmet. |

#NHLDucks are in the process of finalizing paperwork to buy out Corey Perry this morning. Perry is not expected to be placed on waivers, by virtue of his no-move clause. Big name for the #FreeAgentFrenzy list. #TSN |

yeah, very interesting
$6,625,000 cap hit next year for Anaheim, similar to what Shatty buyout would be for us |

I think he's got some left in the tank and the fact that he'll be drawing a buyout paycheck from ANA probably means he'd sign cheap-ish. He posted 50tps in 71 games last year two years ago, that's not too bad. His last three seasons before 2018-19 he played 71, 82, 82 (going in reverse order).
I said it over in the Islanders thread, but if it weren't for that useless pile of poop Komarov...Perry would be a good add for 3rd line RW. |
