I’m a big Connolly fan too. I liked watching him when he was in Tampa. He’s got some good hands and a good shot. I think he’s a little slow but he’s a good player. - j.boyd919
Caps can't resign him. He's a good player. |

Things to know about Perry: he’s over the hill, he plays strictly RW, just because one team is still paying him doesn’t mean he’s going to go for $1MM when teams like AZ would love for him to come in and score 20/20 (even if that’s his basement), and he got bought out because of his NTC which would’ve required Seattle expansion protection this next offseason (correct me if I’m wrong, I don’t think that’s wrong)
Anaheim couldn’t find anyone to take him because of the NTC with the expansion draft coming - WSCTeton17
He had one of the worst contracts for the production he was having. Tough pill to any team to swallow. $3M now and he gets 1st or 2nd line in Pittsburgh. Do it JR. |

How much will Connolly be worth? $4M? |

Hard to say. I think he's worth 4 mil a year for sure, but it's free agency and he had a breakout year. I could easily see a cap floor team throwing him 5 mil+. Connolly has consistently posted good underlying numbers, so you'd think he's good for it. His development reminds me of guys like Turris. |

He comes off as a good fit with Geno. Not a fast guy, good shot, simple game that allows geno to do his thing. I'm really curious to see what he gets. |

He’s great but Provorov is the #1 on the left side moving forward, they should absolutely keep Ghost for the second pairing but they’ve got Hagg and the more promising Morin, and in a couple years they’re very high on Zamula who just had 56 pts in 61 WHL games. They shouldn’t move ghost because there’s no immediate need as far as a return and his contract is a steal - WSCTeton17
Hagg and Morin both stink. Sanheim is really good though. |

I would guess in the 5-6 mil range. His 5v5 numbers were almost identical to Atkinson and Dadanov, and I believe both of them are in that range. |

Erik Karlsson finally got paid in the neighborhood that represents his actual value. San Jose is still all in on the next few years and it is hard to blame them. It is expensive (11.5M) and long (8), but it is also Erik Karlsson.
I might agree with this from RW if the guy wasn't injured so much. Seems a little overpriced, but if he stayed healthy, yeah. |

Honestly I think bringing in Perry on a 1-2 year deal would be awesome. I would probably consider trading Horny if we had someone like Perry. His ability to redirect pucks is amazing. |

Here's my under the radar pick up to replace Schultz: Kevin Shattenkirk
Rumor was he was a buyout candidate, so Rangers may retain salary as they want to move him out with Trouba and Fox also RHD.
Name appears to be mud right now, but he actually had outstanding relative numbers (+5.6 corsi, 5.8 Fenwick) and still had 28 points in 73 games despite losing PP time.
Classic scapegoat because of his expensive contract, but it's not his fault the Rangers decided to rebuild and Lundquist declined. |

Dadonov is a bit of a steal, but he was coming back from the KHL, so it was on a huge gamble from FLA. Atkinson is a better comp, but he put up those numbers longer before his current contract.
I'm thinking lower end of 5. |

Alrighty... so you looking to trade Schultz for Shatty, or trade Schultz and signing Shatty as replacement?
Not opposed to either idea, but let's hear how the money and or trade pieces would work in your scenario. |

If he's at 4M, I'd sign him for sure. I agree he an probably be worth 5M and could even explode if given a regular top 6 role and some PP two time. |

they've already processed the perry buyout on capfriendly. 6.625 hit in two years.
They couldn't convince Perry to waive his NTC for expansion? |

Anaheim said they would eat half the contract. It was the NMC that was the issue |

doesn't that go away in a trade? or is that specific to the NMC signed? |

Very few guys put up the possession relative numbers Ghost does, it's around Letang's level. And he's got a nice contract. I know Flyers are pretty stacked with young, LHD, but talent like that you have to keep and find a good partner for. |

That was my thought initially, but the Hayes and Skinner signing have me trending upwards. Free agency is always difficult to judge. Maybe he takes 5 with a contender instead of 6 with a fringe playoff team. |

Correct. I believe LeBrun was the one who had reported such. There will be a number of teams looking to bolster the RW position. I agree with Boyd that Jake-Sid-Perry would likely be a solid line but also, watch for Edmonton to take a run at him |

Two separate trades. Rangers are overloaded at RD with Trouba, DeAngelo, Fox, Shattenkirk, and Smith an just want to clear salary. I they were considering a buyout, Shattenkirk can probably be had fairly cheap with some salary retained and the Pens could then flip Schultz for a good return. |

Shattenkirk finished strong with 18 points in his last 40 games. Last year’s sh% probably isn’t the new normal for him either. I agree, Tojo. I think it’s a good idea |

I wouldn't mind Shattenkirk and/or Perry. I think both could still play at an elite level. I think Perry would really help especially during the playoffs |

Kessel for who?
This sounds like a terrible deal. - j.boyd919
Caleb Jones is a defensive prospect. I'd argue a better, risky deal, would be swap that name with Jesse Puljujärvi. The hope was if you pull a deal like this you're opening up salary cap to sign a Zuccarello or something so you could see it as a UFA winger+oilers items for Kessel. The picks are essentially trading up like the Stillers did and getting something in another round since we have so few picks. It also probably isn't a team on Kessel's list but if someone sells him on playing with McDavis he could easily change his tune. Kessel has to be thinking "next contract" at this point and anywhere they send him, his stats need to be healthy enough for another good contract.
And trust me, I'm not allergic to the notion that I threw out a terrible idea. :p |
