doesn't that go away in a trade? or is that specific to the NMC signed?
- Blackstrom2

I thought that was only if the player was traded prior to the clause kicking in the team could opt to not give the player the NMC/NTC. I have to double check that

I'll pass on the 35 year old winger coming off a really bad injury.

Aren't you the guy who claimed Trouba had a 2 team NTC? Still waiting for your source on that garbage.

My guess: Perry signs in the $4MM range. His career points/60 ranges from 2.1 to 3.2 over the last 9 years. Last year was 1.3 on a horrible team, the prior two years was 2.3 and 2.2. He’s still a 10% shooter. Wouldn’t surprise me one bit if COL takes a shot

Im thinking 2 to 3 mill.

He and Crosby were good buddies and line-mates during the world junior gold days...then Olympic gold teammates...two times.

Give him a call Sid. I want him for cheap...

Pens would have too many RW's though I think...

Caleb Jones is a defensive prospect. I'd argue a better, risky deal, would be swap that name with Jesse Puljujärvi. The hope was if you pull a deal like this you're opening up salary cap to sign a Zuccarello or something so you could see it as a UFA winger+oilers items for Kessel. The picks are essentially trading up like the Stillers did and getting something in another round since we have so few picks. It also probably isn't a team on Kessel's list but if someone sells him on playing with McDavis he could easily change his tune. Kessel has to be thinking "next contract" at this point and anywhere they send him, his stats need to be healthy enough for another good contract.

And trust me, I'm not allergic to the notion that I threw out a terrible idea. :p

GMJR has pretty much said he's not dumping Kessel for futures, so I don't see a prospect and swap of picks getting it done.

I think if GMJR could get a verbal agreement on a contract during the week period before free agency, he would be willing to do so. But I don't think he wants to have to chase a player around to fill the gap.

Edmonton looking for a 3rd line winger in return. We have like 7 of those.

Hey, if they buy ZAR as a 3rd line winger that would be amazing.

It's not an insane upsell of him... he averages out to ~15 goals in 82 games a year.

Given our logjam at RW though I would suspect Rust. But this is all hypothetical nonsense anyway

puljujarvi is probably a bust, but I’m curious if he’s more a result of a bad organization.

I legit hadn't even bothered to check out puljujarvi... but claiming ZAR as a 3rd liner isnt that far fetched is all I am going for.

And after looking him up... no thanks. Looks like a worse Yakupov.

Puljujarvi is definitely worth a shot and I think Rust is a guy Edmonton would like. Fast enough to play with McDavid and has done well on Sid and Genos wings.

I like Rust but the upside and 2m in cap space would make it worth it.

2-3 sounds about right and I guarantee JR would be interested. I think Perry rushed himself back from that injury and could bounce back to be a solid power forward again.

Honestly it’s depressing to me to see Perry bought out. Like his contract obviously sucks and it was the right move but kind of an end of an era over there.

I liked Mac's idea... trade Kessel and Pens 1st for Turris & Tolvanen (this gives them a chance to sign Duchene). We save $800k on the cap, get slightly younger, get a solid 3C + and a high upside player not far from the NHL.

I have to imagine some team signs Perry for $4M or more....

I agree... and that's why something like Pulj for Rust is somewhat interesting. Should save a couple mill on the cap.

Beyond just Rusty's few clutch playoff goals...his speed and play style jives with our identity. I'd be a little scared to trade him tbh.

We get significantly worse from that given that Turris and Bjugstad are redundant. If Phil doesn’t want to move then we shouldn’t be entertaining trades like this.

MoJo at $5M isnt terrible...I think he and Nyquist both would be good pick-ups if we end up trading Kessel/clearing cap space.

I'd prefer the Zucker deal but this could be good too.

Tolvanen is a big get, imo. Getting a top 6 forward on an ELC is more valuable than our first rd pick that might take 2-3 years to hit the NHL.

And even though I'm not like a huge Turris fan, that would prevent GMJR from getting some crappy overpriced "shutdown" center that he keeps talking about haha.

With the sale of the Coyotes going through now, it could mean new ownership approves of a big trade and Phil is shipped out without any money coming back.
