I agree, its not all doom and Dim Jim. He seems to be learning and drafting well. Just dont hamstring us with bad long term FA deals. - carsonagenic

Smart UFA signings on younger players with perceived upside. Not established vets on downside of careers for long term with NTC/ NMC just because they did it before playing on the East Coast. Western travel is a big difference. - carsonagenic
Smart & young UFA’s ok who?
As for vet UFA’s they don’t sign without being enticed. |

Then thank Gillis for his lack of development. Rebuilds are slow and piss me off. I’m just venting. Drafting has been fairly good but other teams have been drafting well also. Calgary buffalo Edmonton TO Winnipeg etcetera. - thundachunk
None of those teams have gone through a prolonged cup contender run nor being elite. We lost maybe 5yrs of prospects in the pipeline by going all in. |

So what's the Edler deal??? if its 4 years than JB can go (frank) himself
if it's 3 years at the reported 5-5.5M can hit and a limited NTC then I can live with it, but only if Tanev is then dealt. 5-5.5M for Edler is solid with the cap counting to go up, he can easily be moved down the road as long as the limited NTC isn't something stupid where he can only go to like 5 or 6 teams. - Nucker101
4 years would be ducking awful. He is an old broken down man ffs |

I think those who are expecting Sutter to be moved are underestimating how much Benning likes him compared to what his market value is. Benning likely values him more than most of the league does |

We’ll regret trading Tanev. No matter how well Quinn Hughes does this year, he would have done better partnered with Tanev. No other Canuck Dman offers the anticipatory hockey IQ/selfless game that greaseball would to allow Hughes to go buck. - DrChristianTroy

Oh I think you under estimate the chances. We’ve seen basically the same roster for five years. Saying you are going to do something and actually doing it are very different. |

I prefer Tanev to Edler as well, but I want more picks/prospects added instead of holding onto declining vets. I want players that can potentially help Petterson, Hughes, Boeser and co when they're in their primes. |

it'll probably be something in between, not as many changes as Vantel and I just posted, but definitely not what you posted either. |

Benning has done a masterful job of overpaying for players in trade who become worthless in the same trade market. That he is surprised that the rest of the league doesn’t value Canuck players (outside the 4 horsemen) is the surprising thing. |

Did you think the worst D in the league would be back to a man? I don’t doubt that Benji is trying to make changes, but I don’t buy that he will be able to. Making a trade is tough when you have nothing to give, and free agents have 31 choices. Because Benning wants Myers doesn’t mean Myers wants to play in Vancouver. |

In his last year as a gm and he rolls that lineup on opening day? We will see but that's not going to happen. I think he is trying make a lot of moves but not sure how many will actually get done. Definitely will add at least a d man and a top9 fwd. That's the min. |
