2 years 6 million AAV for Edler - manvanfan
A little more AAV for less term and no protection. A really nice contract by Benning |
|
|
|
That's possibly what was discussed when there was a rumour that Van and Buf were talking about D.
Do you think the return should be larger? Buffalo isn't in cap hell or anything, they don't need to get rid of Bogo's contract. - manvanfan
I don't understand how taking Bogos contract would justify moving up any slots, yet alone 3 within the top 10? Like you said, Buffalo arnt in cap trouble and even tho Sabre fans don't like him it doesn't mean his contract has negative value. I mean there has to be something going back the other way right? |

Dim Jim does it again.
Waits for the first poster to say it was a year too long |

Edler also does right by the Canucks too, given age, state of the team, etc. Benning definitely got the better deal imo.
Will be interesting to see the other changes on D. Edler, Hughes, Stecher, Tanev are locks. Hopefully tanev is traded ASAP |

Great deal, I would of been okay with 2x 7.
Good job JB |

Honestly out of all the UFA D available - when you factor in term and age, Edler at 2 years is unreal.
Gardiner, Myers, Stralman, Gunnersson, are all potentially gonna be nightmare contracts |

100% agree. Edler is the better option. I'm really hoping Tanev is traded now though. We still need change back there. |

I would say Bogo's pretty close to zero value. He's not good. It would be just an easy way to clear cap space so they can go after Subban who EK said they were rumoured to be after.
Buffalo knows they probably aren't getting a player that will play for them this season at 7oa but getting rid of Bogo and adding Subban would add to the team this season. To drop 3 spots isn't significant for them in terms of what they might be adding to the team in the future for right now but it might be worth it for Van to take on a basically just money, if Zegras is there and they want him and figure he won't be there when they pick at 10. |

Who's going to play top pairing on the right side? Stecher is a fine capable 2nd pairing guy 60% of the time but he's never going to be a capable 1st pairing guy all the time.
Unless you are going Myers and Zaitsev or Soderstrom is that damn good.
I went and watched more clips of Soderstrom after the article Kuzma wrote. I have Soderstrom rated 12th on my list and the scout said he see's a higher percentage he becomes a 3 D. I think he's a bit underrated now.
I think for this teams needs i'd prefer him over Zegras. |

Bogo has one year left. The Sabres could keep Bogo and still acquire PK.
Buffalo wants Caufield I believe, one Buf scout on local radio when asked about top prospects raves about Caufield.
In order for Buf to move I think it would take a bit more than just
Bogo and 7
For
10
Honestly with what Braun just went for, Bogo could have some value. Especially if the Sabres eat some salary. |

I don't watch any Buffalo but with Risto, Montour on the right side. Adding Subban. Where is Bogo going to play the left side?
I heard a rumour don't know if much truth from it but he's a kings fan from LA and he said he heard that LA is high on Caufield. |

If it means not signing one of the garbage UFA d's then it's ok. Term is decent. |

It does not surprise me. If Caufield were 2 inches taller he’d be in consideration for top 3 IMO. He is that good and just a pure goal scorer, breaking all sorts of records. |

That's probably my favorite part of this deal. It ensures a top 4 dman and not overpaying for one in free agency, hes eligible for expansion draft, and his contract comes off the books the same year petey needs to get paid. Really nice negotiating by benning |

Career AHL'er.
You'll probably want to pass unless you want to bolster your AHL Club. |

That line is tough to judge. Hughes is obviously the best player but is he propping Zegras and Caufield up or are they holding their own. Caufield is different from the other two being the goal scorer and not play maker. |
