I liked Mittelstadt - & wouldn’t call him a bust just yet. But he didn’t have Zegras X factor. Zegras as a prospect is (almost) Pettersson level exciting. - DrChristianTroy
It’s all about those high draft picks baby. Get a couple more and our teams outlook will be peachy. |

Yeah, but there’s going to be a lot of competition. Think about all the kids drafted last and the previous year who will be joining the NHL next year. |

A rookie dman who’s going to score 20 goals and 50 points? I think not my friend. |

(frank). With Carols new blog I thought everyone left.
Edit: how about 15 goals and 45 points? |

If he could get double digit goals and 50+ points them the Calder is in reach. I’m just kidding around but if a PP of QH, EP, and BB clicks then who knows.
Edit: if I see Edlers ass anywhere near PP1 I will lose it. |

Conservatively, I'd project 5-7 goals with 30-35 assists. But 50 points would not surprise me. |

If that’s the case then QH point total would surpass Ekblad and Myers when they won it. Just saying it ain’t a crazy idea for Hughes to be in the mix. Would be very nice to have back to back Calder winners during a rebuild. Very, very nice. |

It's possible, he should be in the mix to get nominated hopefully. I think Jack Hughes is getting a bit underrated, I see him as a franchise player and no brainer 1st overall pick.
Ekblad played almost 22 minutes per game though, we'll see if Green trusts Hughes that much. Feels like there are more rookies in the league now compared to when Myers was one. |

I can definitely see ranking him 1st (I don’t)... No brainer tho? Kakko at times can look like a PForsberg/EMalkin hybrid. I could never pass up for a PKane 2.0 ceiling. Not even sure Hughes ceiling is that much higher than Zegras. |

I see Hughes as a P.Kane that can stick as a full time center, to me that's a clear #1 pick, even over the potentially elite power winger.
Hughes is going to make a lot of average/decent teammates look good. |

Won’t argue with that... He convinced ppl that Caufield is a top 10 talent
I think he might have a rough pro transition though. Much rougher than Kakko’s will be. I love both players - both so fun to watch. |

Am I way off in thinking Jack Hughes is another version of Brayden Schenn?
Edit: maybe less physical...
Double edit: a P. Kane ceiling is pretty high. Lots of expectation if that's the case. |

Gotcha. Seems I lost track of him.
Thought he was better than that. - ImThatGuy
117 games in NHL pretty much accomplished nothing here. Decent defensively though. |

Have some faith brother. The only hardware we will see in the near future is individual awards. Double Calder would be nice. |

He’s the consensus #1 in a pretty talented draft... Tons of expectation. Ceiling is ceiling though - how many prospects ever reach (let alone break through) their projected ceiling? He’s one who could. |

Thanks for being gentle in rejecting my BSchenn comparison. So no. Vastly greater talent both goal scoring and playmaking ability.
Going to be interesting watching his development. |

“Eligible” for the expansion draft is an overstatement. He will be a pending UFA, so while Seattle could select him, why would they? After expansion, he will be free to negotiate a new deal with the Canucks. - 1970vintage
Cannot select a UFA 😂😂 |
