If there's nothing else available in FA then I'd recommend it. Maybe even go up to $4MM if necessary because he might be a good fit with Horvat and Pearson. They could be a very productive line. Hard on defenders in the offensive zone and lots activity at the net.

If Perry's finally over his injuries from 2017/2018 then he may have a bit of a bounce back this season. If he does and you can move him to a contender with salary retained at the trade deadline, that's even more appealing.

If you could free up some roster space and jettison Sutter, Eriksson, Spooner and Sven, i would not be looking to Corey Perry, i'd be looking at getting some youth injected into the lineup.

i'd chase Panarin, who we won't get.
