Re signing Edler is a BAAAAAAAD idea. He is 33. That's when most players start slowing down and Edler isn't known for his speed. Plus he is VERY injury prone. It would be wiser to trade the 1st round pick with Markstrom, Granlund and Goldobin to the Jackets for young up and coming LD Zach Werenski. Ryan Murray can take Werenski's role in CBJ. As usual, Vancouver management making bad choices. Benning is great at scouting.

Amazing how much easier it would be to build a decent roster if Panarin were to come here. But I agree, sadly it's unlikely.

They need a left winger for EP and BB. If not Panarin, then someone a bit more robust would be good but not Ferland. I think you'll regret that contract sooner than later.

Donskoi has played on a good team for 4 years and hasn't generated exciting numbers. I always think of Dzingel as a scoring off the rush kind of guy. Don't know if that's a fit with EP or not.

Hopefully JB will figure out a way to use his cap space to take back an expensive veteran RW/LW who could play a year or two with EP or Bo along with a younger guy who could play with the other.

I just don't think any of the top 3 UFA's are signing in Vancouver.
We've gone over it before, Vancouver, like a lot of Canadian cities have to over-pay and the player has to really want to play there - e.g. Tavares.

I'm fine with continuing with 'steady as she goes' until Bo, Petey, Hughes and Demko are at their prime, we dump some bad contracts and the team is actually able to attract some top ranked free-agents.
