Skinner for pu,2nd,3rd and 6th
- Slapjackzack

But I hear you can't evaluate a trade until all the picks have been made and have had an ample chance to develop?

Dude...
Even if they lost in Round1,
they still got a really good player for “parts”

We should be so lucky to see Botts pull off a deal like that

You really got let this crap go
Even Sbroads has

- jdfitz77

We got Skinner for a boatload of Pu, and no if they lost in round 1 whether or not they won the trade it would have been all for not. The Blues’ window was now. If they lose this year, like a majority of the hockey world and myself included thought they would at some point, then it would have been just another miserable playoff exit.

The ROR trade, Bozak, Perron and to a smaller extent Maroon gave the Blues one last window of opportunity and they managed to get it done.

We once traded Paul Gaustad and a 4th rounder for a 1st round pick and still lost the trade. I’d rather have Jusse Saros then Girgensons.

What do you think the thing that Hall & Oats couldn't go for was?
- BeadyEyedDouche

Some runaround Daryl Hall’s GF at the time was giving him would be my guess.

With how much other mediocre centers are getting paid right now?

Yeah, I’d absolutely take it.

But I want the ROR that was a Selke caliber player though.

I think he really underwhelmed at times.

Oh well. It’s done

- OneKaneOneCup

Well it’s not like I’d have hated if ROR was more productive with us
All that dzone time wore him down though
But yeah...
he’s gone and now we are looking for center help

If we can trade “parts” for it,
then sign me up in a heartbeat

Hopefully we can take advantage of some of these teams in a Cap trouble

It's a wash, since none of them have won the Cup. "If you ain't first, you're last."

If u trade a bunch of parts for a really good player, it’s a win no matter what

One last window?
The Blues are still gonna be a pretty good team next year, and moving forward

Even good teams need to catch Lightning in a bottle to win the Cup

Look how long it took the Caps
Look at Tampa & Winnipeg & Nashville & San Jose trying year after year after year

If u can trade scraps for a guy like ROR,
u do at every single time
Just like how we got Skinner
It’s a no brainer

We rushed Gus Let’s All be honest If he would’ve stayed for college I think he would’ve been a completely different player

If you want to cheer for playoff appearances that’s fine. I want to see a cup banner up there one day. By drafting a solid foundation that will give us a chance. Make the final trade to put us over the top. I don’t hear many fans talk about the past and all of the playoff appearances we have accumulated in our 50 year history, I do hear the “0 Cups” thing get thrown around constantly though.

a 9mil defenseman on your 3rd pair is poor judgement

It has to be factored in that he wanted out and that it’s pretty obvious Pegula was not willing to pay the bonus.

Really, WGR just spent an entire show talking about Game 6 of the 99 cup. 20th anniversary was Wednesday Flacccoville. I’m surprised you didn’t know that. You were probably a Stars fan then.

You seem obsessed with everything having to be done in a particular order

There’s more than 1 way to build a Cup champ though

Agreed. They need a stable of youth that will be cheap for a few years when we contend.

Otherwise we’re Chicago post cups

Flyers are an example of always making short term moves the last 5 years.

They have 14 mil tied up in JVR and Hayes long term.

And are going to trade a good contract in Ghost?

Sure
But we also didn’t have to cave
Whether it was the Pegulas’ fault, or Botts, or a combo...
we got hosed

Sakic held onto Duchene till he got the deal he wanted
Yzerman did it with Drouin

At the end of the day...
we got a bunch of yuck

And now the #1 thing everyone is talking about us having to get is a 2C

So hopefully Botts can pull off another Skinner type deal, bc we don’t have many great trade pieces

I still have a ton of faith in Mitts.

I’d try and get a really good 3C that’s cheaper.

Especially if we’re drafting a center at 7

“... or even on the 3rd pair”

I’m gonna focus on that part bc it’s utterly ridiculous

But yeah,
paying a 2nd pair defenseman 9mil is pretty stupid too

I was 4 years old when that happened. Only in Buffalo will we remember a Cup Final Loss. Do they celebrate the Bills Super Bowl Misfortunes as well ?
