Sure
But we also didn’t have to cave
Whether it was the Pegulas’ fault, or Botts, or a combo...
we got hosed
Sakic held onto Duchene till he got the deal he wanted
Yzerman did it with Drouin
At the end of the day...
we got a bunch of yuck
And now the #1 thing everyone is talking about us having to get is a 2C
So hopefully Botts can pull off another Skinner type deal, bc we don’t have many great trade pieces - jdfitz77
Read that last sentence over and over again and then maybe you’ll see the reasoning behind my tank wishes from December on to acquire another elite talent. |

I was 4 years old when that happened. Only in Buffalo will we remember a Cup Final Loss. Do they celebrate the Bills Super Bowl Misfortunes as well ? - Pegullaville
Misfortunes are the only thing a Buffalo Sports fan has to celebrate. You’re GTA’s version of the Cowboy fan in Philly. |

I still have a ton of faith in Mitts.
I’d try and get a really good 3C that’s cheaper.
Especially if we’re drafting a center at 7 - OneKaneOneCup
Regardless...
utter failure of a trade is, and always has been the point
Wouldn’t we be better off right now if we’d actually gotten a quality return for him?
And as far as 7OA goes...
We should be taking whoever we think will be the best “goal scorer” regardless of position
That’s clearly our biggest weakness |

It’s really not so tough
Just go back to your lame attempts at jokes & trolling though |

Yeah... your reasoning sucks though
Bc it involves you having to cheer against your team
You said to me we should tank until we have enough talent to compete for the Cup
That means we should be tanking again this year,
right?
Or do u actually think that 7OA is the missing piece?
And we gotta get our Brock Nelson too of course
😂😂😂 |
|
|
|
No,
a 9mil defenseman on your 3rd pair is poor judgement - jdfitz77
Only in buffalo is subban a 3rd pairing defenseman. |

A Hall of Fame GM seems to agree with me, if we turned ROR into Nelson, Thompson, 31, 2nd rounder 2021 then the return doesn’t look as bad as it does today (even though it’s still a loss).
7th OA should be an integral piece to the core moving forward.
All of the draft pundits I follow are gushing over the 2020 prospects already, some comparing the depth of the draft to 2015 already. So yea if it were up to me I would be patient and not going crazy spending assets we can’t afford to lose to “win now”. Our best chance of success is 2020-2021 anyways so I would not complain at all about adding another top 10 pick in a stacked draft class next year if it came to it. |

I was referring to the resigning of Nelson as the first order of business by Lou. Yes everyone knows we lost the trade, would be nice for Tage and the picks to amount to something though for when it actually matters even if they are just complimentary 3rd line forwards. |

Really, WGR just spent an entire show talking about Game 6 of the 99 cup. 20th anniversary was Wednesday Flacccoville. I’m surprised you didn’t know that. You were probably a Stars fan then. - Hatboro_Swords
I think he was probably 2 or 3 then. |

I guess
Should be able to acquire that fairly easily though
We can’t keep wasting years of Jack & Dahlin though
Trading ROR set us back
Botts has to be able to add guys to help win NOW,
AND In the future
While drafting well for the future also
It’s not this 1 or the other game that you & a lot of others seem to be playing
Botts has to do BOTH |

If you want to cheer for playoff appearances that’s fine. I want to see a cup banner up there one day. By drafting a solid foundation that will give us a chance. Make the final trade to put us over the top. I don’t hear many fans talk about the past and all of the playoff appearances we have accumulated in our 50 year history, I do hear the “0 Cups” thing get thrown around constantly though. - Pegullaville
I think there's a lot of Sabre history people look back on fondly and enjoy, despite none of these events led to a Cup. "Thank you, Sabres", Beating the Habs to go to the Cup. Fog game. May Day. 80 season. Beating the Legion of Doom. Beating the Leafs to go to the Cup. 05-06. 06-07.
I'm honestly wondering if you've ever rooted for the Sabres to win a game.
Seems an odd experience to never want the team to do well, in hopes of a better or (as in this year) not too much worse of a draft pick. Setting aside $kinner, you seem quite on board with JB's choices.
Besides making draft picks, should he do anything to try an improve the team? If he's not going to try and make the playoffs (and ultimately fail to win it all), there doesn't seem to be much of a point in pursuing high priced free agents. The pursuit of lower tier players would just seem to be an exercise in filling out below-adequate lineup. The only clear goal seems to be is to finish as poorly as possible year after year. |
