That would be very dissapointing
I don't think he makes the 31st selection
I think that gets moved
If all Botts does is draft 2 players (and other deals are going down) it's not going to be a good day in Sabreland - Stripes77

You don't hear any rumors about us and Winnipeg, right? - mhp
No... not since they checked in on Risto and we checked in on Trouba last week.
But usually that's how trades occur.
I don't remember hearing anything about us talking to the Canes about Skinner. I remember people here hoped it but not actual rumblings online.
Same goes for at the TDL... everyone just figured we would be full on sellers then out of no where we landed Montour for Guhle and a 1st.
Botts keeps a PRETTY tight lid on his internal stuff which makes me doubt the rumors out on the market even more as just analyst smoke of what COULD be possibly but not what's ACTUALLY happening.

There's been some talk of Peter Chiarelli perhaps joining the Canucks front office under Jim Benning, both of whom worked together in Boston. They are indeed talking about that, however, Chiarelli is also talking to other NHL front offices...
OH MY GOD PLEASE!!!!! - Stripes77
He has to have pictures of someone. Probably lots of people. I can't think of a better recent example of this being an old buys club.

He also said that by age 24 that D start to come into their own. I can't think of too many great D that weren't getting better year by year. - Slump Buster
Chara til he was about 27 was about even with Joe Finley.
Hedman was called a bust for about 3 straight years.
A lot of the NSH guys over the years never hit their full stride until 23-24-25 years old because they let their guys resonate in Milwaukee as long as possible as opposed to being on their 3rd pairings.

Is this the day Jason Zucker will be traded by the @mnwild ? He’s being shop and it will be interesting to see where he’s gonna land. Nobody expect him to be back in Minny next season.
I would hope that Botts doesn’t overpay for free agents, or overpay in the trade market for vets for the sake of expediting the rebuild. Take advantage of the cap strapped teams and acquire assets for pennies on the dollar and use FA to fill out the depth of the roster. The team has to make the playoffs in order to have a chance at the cup, however I would love to see them actually have a chance when they make it and not just be a first round exit.
The only Sabres moments I’ve been alive for were 05/06, and 06/07 (when I jumped on the bandwagon) and those teams were stacked and everyone knew when they made the playoffs that they were cup contenders. There is more then one way to build a cup contender but due to the fact our prospect cupboard is all but dry, drafting high is one of the ways to do that. So yes, I’d rather draft top 10 in the hopes of building a foundation like the 05-07 teams then just make the playoffs and know deep down we don’t have a shot. - Pegullaville
Funny thing is,
the only guy on those teams we picked at n the Top10 was Vanek
Just goes to show how we don’t need to tank to build a great team
