I think he and Ziba have chemistry and adding more elite talent around him is a positive, hard to let a specimen like Kreider go - KreiderBomb
Yes, but it's a dangerous game to pay a guy7+mill/7 years b/c you think he will finally put it all together. Miller was same way. We loved when he played great, but he was invisible way too often. Can't get attached to the "idea" of what Kreider can be one day...GOODBYE. CHRIS. |

I wouldn’t be surprised if Trouba ends up costing over 7mm per year but at the same time Gorton has always gotten great contracts done with RFAs so we’ll see what happens. |

I am almost certain that he will cost over $7 million a year, and I am actually kind of find with that for a defenseman that is just entering the prime of his career. This isn't a situation where the Rangers buy him for four years and pray for four. It's a situation where he could actually be a value at the tale end of his contract.
On Kreider. I hope the guy stays. This team still needs some veteran leadership, and if the deadline comes around and they can't get a reasonable deal done, then reconsider then. But if a can't pass deal is there ....

Didn't the coyotes want to do this, and isn't this kind of similar to what the islanders do?

Alex Edler was just extended this morning by Vancouver, though for two years only, at a $6M AAV.
Vlasic is at $7M annually with San Jose, with 9 other NHL d'men between $7.25M (in Letang) up to $8.25M (in Ekman-Larsson), prior to the next and three highest AAV's for d'men in the league in Subban ($9M), Doughty ($11M), and the highest in Karlsson ($11.5M).
Trouba at $5.5M in his final year of his Jets original contract, will command $7.5M to $8.5M AAV for 7 years from the Rangers. |

Would they still be called the Rays? Montreal Rays doesn't really make sense. Ditto for Tampa Expos. |

Not all that similar, I mean Tampa and Montreal are on opposite ends of the continent and are in different countries.

I know it’s long but I had to share this from someone on a Facebook post about Trouba. “kratzov and kakoo “ lmao
“Tee Jay i really hope he proves me wrong but i feel like we just traded a first round and pionk for a slouch of a player who is just going to be bad in the locker room and then become the great distraction of a hold out cause he wants boku bucks. Add to that him being there means less ice time for the kids they should be developing and playing. Now if they add a veteran center well there goes even more playing time that should be for the kids to do this rebuild properly. Then if they get panarin well now youve just lost even more playing time. I see how this is gonna play out. Quinn has somehow convinced gort that he can win like this. Yes you can win like this but you arnt winning a cup like this. Stunting all the growth of the young players. Quinn did it last year. And for what? To trade hayes for a pick and a career 3rd liner to just trade that pick and a dman thats gives 110% on the ice for a guy known to sniff coke, cause locker room issues and thinks hes better than he is having played for a good team in Winnipeg. Hes reason for wanting to leave was because he was below other players on the depth chart. If thats ok with you than thats fine but a guy that doesnt want to outplay his competition to rise up in the depth charts on a playoff contending team isnt the kind of player id want on my team. There was zero need to add anyone from outside this off season. Next year we have kratzov, kakoo and many others fighting to be on this roster. The only way im ok with bringing in trouba is if it means shattenkirk and staal are out.
Last year they should have rolled 4 lines even with every line having the young kids. All getting 15 minutes a game whether they won or lost. Instead zibs line got nearly 30 minutes a game leaving scrap time for the kids. That winning streak they had in november doomed them. Quinn got first year winning coach glaze in his eyes and got iff track of rebuilding. I know this cause we had a few 5 on 3s at that time and not one rookie was on the ice. Kids cant learn if they dont play. I could go on for hours about this. Im not a new fan and im not a salty fan biut im a realistic fan and i can see the writing on the wall of whats happening. They are caving into the pressure of being a playoff team right now instead of stsying the course of 3 years.” |
