I think this all started with the McDavid 12.5m. Stars are going to get paid now, which will leave less money for the middle 6 type players. Teams will have to wheel and deal to keep multiple Star players as well. It won't be long until every team has at least 2 11m+ players, some with 3-4 of them.

I think both sides were fairly up front and adamant that they wanted to get a deal done.
Any talk of threats to walk were probably just folks on here who were calling him a POS for not accepting a trade last year, and stirred up by vague and unfounded media speculation.

Agreed. The ELC’s will continue to the bread & butter of teams. Teams going all in are another story maybe. The middle 6 will most likely be in a state of flux for many teams.

That would effect what it costs us i hope. Trading for him now & he/Canucks can consider an 8yr deal. Waiting for the UFA market is no guarantee. It’s a total crapshoot.
