Absolutely. At that point, Krebs, Caufield, Knight, and Boldy were still on the board. Someone was gonna take Knight (and they did).
That meant one of those guys was still gonna be there at 14 (2 of them were), AND you get a mid 2nd rounder. I loved the trade. I’m even okay with the pick.
I just woulda been happier with one of the scorers plus the 2nd rounder.
York seems redundant. We have that. We need people to put the rubber in the net. - Hesh_
I would agree, but nobody picked at 14 is likely to be in the nhl helping this team for 2 to 3 years, so none of Krebs, Caulfield or Boldy would be filling the net for us soon. York helps replenish our defensive cupboard. |

Everyone of his rumors were total trash , he made up while sitting on the can, not one or anything scratch the surface of anything he put up |

Glad to se the GM doesn’t value draft picks.
Everyone loves the scouts when they picked frost and farabee. Yet don’t trust them in this spot it seems. |

York would still be on the board. Not a bad player but we were in a spot to get a much better player. Anyone blown away by the platitudes thrown his way on TV after he was picked in that slot? Not me. Reminds me exactly the same reaction of Morin being picked. Off the board and underwhelming. Look at who was available when we wasted a low mid first round pick on Morin. Almost every first round player after him is a better player with considerable NHL experience. Been a terribly disappointing week. Are we better? Yes. Considerably better? Don’t see it, unless coacing staff can change us dramatically. |

Why wait another year? Provorov, Sanheim, Gostisbehere, Hagg, Morin, Myers were just not enough. |

How is York off the board? Nobody had him ranked lower than #18. Some had him as high as #12. |

What I don't like about the trade is the I don't see him helping us while G is still in his prime. A winger in all likelyhood would've been here sooner and who knows when Jake and JVR will slow down. - hereticpride
How many solid years does G have left? I'd say 2 or 3. Caufield isn't going to legitimately help a team for 4 or 5 years. It he was THAT good other teams would've drafted him much sooner. |

In theory it is but that because they all got called up by the end of last season. Our core is extremely young. Basically, they didn't make this pick because anything was bare. |

Jesus Bob is the man bruh - Chris48
Oh c’mon.....listen to what he actually says....he makes as many mistakes as he does at guessing right.... don’t get me wrong I like Bob, but there are a lot of guys that I value when it comes to these things. No need to insult me with perhaps the worst GM of all time. Easy kid...we are all on the same side.

Great point! Skilled defensemen are important but we have so many of those. Simmonds got a year older, we trade him. Voracek and Konecny are it right now. - SuperSchennBros
Frost, Ratcliffe, Farabee, O'Brien, Rubtsov.... No guarantee Caulfield will be there to support Roo. |

Is he that far away? Because of his size?5 years isn't making him any taller. Debrincat didn't take that long at all. |

If Fletch had gotten Caufield and a 2nd rounder tonight, this room would be dancing on their feet, and might even partially forgive him for handing Hayes 50 million over 7 years - Hesh_
