I never said he’s unreliable....but as you know there are so many differing opinions...on trades and rumours...ok, Bobs the man..but when it comes to the draft, I’ll trust the scouts when it comes to draft orders and such.

Yeah it’s tumbleweeds with legit d prospects. I actually really like the pick. But I like the trade more. Bravo fletcho

It’s a great trade if York was their guy all along.

Frost, Ratcliffe, Farabee, O'Brien, Rubtsov.... No guarantee Caulfield will be there to support Roo.
- moylander

no guarantee he is still there if any of those players turn into nhl regulars. Farabee probably.

The scouting staff here over the years has done well in the first round, so I’ll give them the benefit of the doubt, but it’s hard when you’ve your sights set on Caufield for several months.

All are young currently so we should be set for a number of years in the NHL and can certainly find others where required outside of the draft. Not one of those 3 mentioned can score like Caufield in my opinion.
- Daceroni

Remember how we had to shelter Briere defensively, partially because of his size? Caulfield is even smaller. Always would wonder each time Briere got hit solidly whether he was going to be out injured. And like I said, he was bigger and a bit more sturdy than Caulfield.

If hextall was still gm this is about when he'd trade back in to the first round and snag a playmaker.

Yep, we have great talent pool coming up soon .... Don't see a pure sniper like Frodo though.. '' Sam ... Sam .... Saaaam ''

''P - O - T-A-T-O-E-S''

COUGH COUGH .....

Me too. He was a tank at his size. I know he benefited from the rule changes, but still wonder how he didn't get injured more often being his size.

I’ll admit I was a little disappointed....but I also remember in the past where they made picks that disappointed me and then turned out to be Claude Giroux.

The game has changed a little since then where speed and scoring have gotten more important. To pass on a guy that scored 72 goals in my opinion for a guy they have 3 or 4 of right now seems short sighted. I just think every draft will have decent defenceman around the same ranking but not very often do you have a pure sniper fall to you at 14(ranked in the top 10) and you pass on him regardless of size.

I think if you go back and look when O'Brien was picked, plenty questioned it... and still do, especially after this year.

And same for Morgran Frost, many said he was a 2nd round pick. Working out so far.

- FlyerFan16

Total off the board pick. Still don’t know who Jay O’Brien is.

Fair points. As I've said, these high bend d prospects tend to be worth their weight in gold, so if we need to flip any of them when we are in contention, it may work out.

Happy about getting the second back.

Debrincat played with McDavid and Strome in Erie. Perhaps his stats were a bit inflated but it still takes skill to put the puck in the net as often as Caufield did.
- Sublime55

Debrincat scored 51 with McD and 51 without him. He definitely proved himself to be a goal scorer. Some bum named Rob Brown put up 115 points in a season playing with Lemieux. I'm just saying, I'm a little skeptical.

Clarke was so set on Sanguinetti. That was a gift right there.

The Flyers Scouts never go for the sexy goal scoring guy.
Like most drafts we won’t know if York was a good pick for Years.
They compared him to Brian Leetch. If he turns out even in Leetch’s neighborhood it’s a win.
Forwards generally mature faster to NHL readiness so there will be chances to get forwards.
Besides defensemen usually bring a higher return in trades. Especially if they are top 4 players.

I remember wanting sniper Kieffer Bellows out of that 2016 Draft when they took Rubtsov. So far neither has made an impact at the NHL level, although German’s season last year in Lehigh was promising so at least there’s that.

I don’t know. I think Chuck Fletcher is an idiot. I think it’s time to build a power offense after spending so long building from the back end. That’s just me. I’m sure Feanor will tell me I’m disconnected tomorrow.

That’s the rub....the development for 90 % of these kids takes different paths after tonight and tomorrow...it really become a crap shoot in a lot of picks.
