The 3rd RW will play 82 games (hopefully). The 2G will play what, 30% of the games? Go for the RW'er. (unless one of the prospects are ready to jump into the NHL). I would think we could pick up a 2G, fairly cheaply. I think Talbot is the guy, not sure how much he'll cost.

Undervaluing that backup I think. I'm not saying it will happen, but if Hart is inconsistent and they don't have a competent backup they're (frank)ed.

How did they waste space buying out AMac? Sending him down only gives us 1 mill and are on hook for 4 mill. Buyout had the opposite affect, we are on the hook for 1-2 mill and we gained 3-4 in cap space
- xShoot4WarAmpsx

You didn't follow what he was saying. He's basically saying use the space saved for this season in buying out MacDonald for other players such as the RFA's.

Based on what?
- jmatchett383

Literally every person with connections that I've heard... There just not big enough to play at the pro level yet. Something we should ask Bill about beacuse I trust people like him more then anyone on this board including myself. But it's a reaccurring question I've heard on radio shows, podcasts and other Flyers media outlets and the overall consensus is that the need one more season before they're ready... Especially Farabee

Yea but next season it isnt much. Braun is gone, gudas is gone all thats left is a small bit from buyout. We are still gaining 4 mill in cap space next season
- xShoot4WarAmpsx

1.9M is not a small bit.

Flyers Target McDavid and Matthews
Philadelphia may be active today on a few fronts. No doubt they are trying to make a splash.

Sweet, we're getting one of McDavid or Matthews?

MacDonald was not penciled into a top 4 role heading into this off season for the upcoming season. It was one of 3 choices. 3rd pair, waived and demoted, or bought out.
- MJL

And i do think the Flyers were kind of doing MacDonald a solid. i know you can't operate like that but i think they were letting him go find a NHL job if possible for being a good soldier these past years.

Just a feeling.

As far as Ghost goes, if they dont give us Domi then I have no interest in anything they could offer us. Andrew Shaw and Paul Byron.. give me a break 😂😂😂😂😂

Well, being as none of them have played 1 game of hockey above the amateur/CHL level, I don't really see how anyone could make that call.

Wasn't Johnny Gaudreau also too small to play in the NHL his first year? Hell, isn't he STILL too small?

the Gm's focus now should be on getting a very good goalie insurance policy. If hart struggles, gets hurt, or whatever they are screwed.

I actually think that was a part of it. But if it wasn't his last year and they didn't wanna clear cap, I think they would have waived him.

In terms of signing the RFA, I will give the GM the benefit of the doubt as he fully well knows what it is going to take to sign these players before any of the moves were made. Just like Ronald had a plan I would venture to guess he does as well. Time will tell.

He did play 3 years at BC.

Everyone is different but he had some development time there compared to Farabee's one year at boston

I dont buy they were doing him a solid one bit. They did him a solid already by giving him 355 million or what not.

They simply cut the cord.

Yes, he did.

He's still 5'8 and 150 lb soaking wet.

Doesn't mean he wasn't able to add strength.

True, but seeing as both Frost and Farabee are both taller and heavier than he is, plus the fact that Frost is the same age that Gaudreau was when he entered the NHL (I think), I don't see why they have no shot but Ratcliffe does because "bigger."

Oh. Based off those 3 guys i think Farabee and Frost are more likely. i think Ratcliff will need some time. He was using his size against guys not as strong or big. Now he'll need to learn how to use it against men and players that are just as physical

He was able to skate up and down the wing with impunity and score from the perimeter because nobody could reach the puck to get it off his stick.

That poop ain't gonna fly in the pros. Gaps are closer, dmen are bigger, you get swarmed the minute you get near the blueline, and goalies don't let in floaters nearly as often.

That's where I'm coming from.

No doubt he has talent, but he was also playing against high school kids for the most part. Good high school kids, but still high school, kids, and he was physically more mature than most of them. Going pro, he'll be playing against guys just as strong or stronger.

Frost and Farabee, on the other hand, have always been undersized and have had to rely on their skill. Granted, they've never played against players as skilled as NHLers either, but that should translate more easily than size.

Or we can just wait to see them at training camp.

Playing in college though he would play against older and more mature players so at least physically he got some exposure. College hockey has gotten really good.

Well yes, he's playing against 19-26 (MEAT READ!) year old players there. However, skill wise, some of those D1 schools are pushovers compared to some CHL teams. But yes, definitely older players.
