So what do you think the Leafs and other teams are going to do with 26 goal scorer Marner? How much?
- Z3Hawk

26 goals tells a small part of the story. Marner also had 94 points. In Kane's 3rd season he had 88 points. In three seasons Marner has very similar offensive numbers as Kane did his first three seasons. Like Kane is a first line winger. Like Kane he plays first powerplay. Where Marner seperates himself from Kane is he is also plays on the top penalty killing unit and he's on the ice in the last minutes when the Leafs are behind or if they are protecting a lead. Marner is worth whatever Matthews makes, if not more.

So Turcotte has a history of injuries ... we selected Boqvist, who had a history of concussions, & he's our highest rated prospect, currently.

I'll have some more Kool-aid, please.

Can you please explain to me what made Hughes a huge bust at the worlds ? Do you have any facts or stats ? Todd Cordell has made multiple arguements that Hughes was pretty much as impressive as Kakko when you factor everything in, which you clearly arent factoring in anything.
- Devilish4

I don’t know - the comments of every hockey writer and hockey person.

The timing of the Worlds is advantageous to the US, as they have all their players, and Canada does not as players are still playing. As games got tougher US faltered.

At the World Championships Hughes was invisible while Kakko lead Finland to the title.

Well it seems we're both wrong. Dach is slow and plodding and Turcotte has done nothing.

Dach is slow and plodding. End of story. Elite skating creates a higher ceiling and that is Cozens. Turcotte showed nothing in key games internationally.
- Z3Hawk

While Wiz moved players up and down on his draft board, what he said about players remained constant. Slow and plodding wasn’t his description of Dach’s skating, although I agree Cozens is definitely the better skater.

“Displays smarts, size, good feet and a 200 foot commitment. Not a speedster, but has a great stick and soft hands as a high-end playmaker. Can control the pace and the play. Another wing-centre who is very strong on his skates. Can move with above average speed while he maintains possession.

He is able to read coverages, make sharp cuts, by driving into the turns. His edge work keeps him away from closing traffic, and frequently leaving him uncovered in the dirty areas.”

Does anyone know a place to watch the draft in the southwest burbs?

What games are you watching? Dach is slow. Even slower if compared to Cozens. There is no chance Dach is chosen at 3. It was Cozens in his first season that played above all other first year players and won the Rookie of the Year in the WHL - guess they were all blind.
- Z3Hawk

The games where Cozens floated all over the ice. Post a source that describes Dach as slow. Cause he isn't.

Bad move taking Turcotte, if the Ave's take Byram, he could haunt the Hawks for years..

It was defense and Lankinen that led them to the title.

Invisible on a team full of nhl talent vs lead is team of no nhl talent plus the fins play jist as much together.

When the coach is giving you 6 minutes a night and you are 17 still as the tourny is being played what is a realistic expectation of success ?

The americans went there with the hopes of winning so if youre the coach and you have a team full of nhlers how likely are you to play a 17 yro non nhl player over guys who are all world. Kakko had good minutes good pp time good o zone starts and every oppertunity to succeed where can you say the same for Hughes ? Youre basically comparing apples to oranges with what you have taken into consideration.

I don't think the Hawks first round draft choice will be tied to any trades Stan does or does not make.
- DarthKane

I didn't think that whoever they pick will be traded, I meant, there will be more d-men available. Therefore, there will be more CURRENT d-men in play.

Tavares had a career year with Marner as his right wing. Kane was playing with Toews.

Agreed, at 3 you have to put positional need aside and take the best player....that is easily Byram

If you don't think Marner is good or Dach can't skate or Turcotte isn't a good player that's great. One day when you actually watch a game and watch the players instead of perusing the boxscores or reading other people's opinions, we'll talk.

Meh could be worse the Devils have been lucky enough to win draft lotteries but they have also been lucky enough to have had the added pressure of their rivals winning pick 2 each time leaving no room for error or youre letting youre rival walk away with the better player lol.

Nah...we'd just trade for him a couple of years from now as he fits the mold of "former 1st round pick" that Stan's been busting a nut over!

You cannot base your opinion on those tournaments. A good journalist would probe and.want to obtain answers to a lot of questions. There is a lot of unknown. Ths is not being an.apolgetic. Same approach a lawyer may have to gather facts, learn about all things which could affect the outcome. You could easily list even ten things without thinking too deeply and each is valid.
A few:

Linemates and strategy, quality of opposition five man group he played with and against, minor injury, quality performance by goaltender, did not want to get injured so can pad numbers from non tournament
