Doubt if Vancouver trades their #1 when they are hosting the draft.
- boilermaker100

Its possible NJ trade 9 for Schneider in NJ at the draft.

That line of thought would apply to most teams, but Vancouver....

Our guy Al:

1) Bob McKenzie on @SiriusXMNHL said Bowen Byram will most likely start in the NHL next year. Question is if he goes past 9 games. McKenzie thinks either Dach or Turcotte goes at #3. Button mentioned in an interview not much difference in talent all the way down to #12/#13.

Is there any players you are hoping are available there ?

I am not to interested in AA but the value I dont think is off. We have Nico who btw you are really under estimating he has queitly been the real deal and at both ends of the ice to he hasnt really been sheltered at all but back to my point we also have Zacha/Mcleod/ Bastian Zajac and Coleman all capable centers.

I think we might deal one of those guys more likely then we add another center ( not named Hughes ).

- Devilish4

Beecher, Grewe or Vlasic. I was mostly just trying to get another 2nd. lol. AA would be a decent short term type for the Devils, tho.

I think Marner is equal or better than Matthews, so he is worthy of an equal salary or he will go shopping.

Byram does not get enough credit for his age and progression.

He is a June birthday, so one of the younger guys in his draft class. He played against guys who often had six months on him, which can be a huge difference at 17.

Then consider the incredible progression of his game over the course of the last season. First half, he put up a very strong 0.82 points per game and was -1. Second half, he scored an elite 1.30 ppg and was +34. He was dominant in all aspects and did not relent come the playoffs.

The more I've studied him, the more I'm a believer.

Not sure Valsic gets out of the first round. But I really like Grewe.

He is getting really close to Matthews' money if not the same. Centers are highers valued though but Marner is an exception to that rule like Kane.

Dont get me wrong a little younger AA would be nice as I like his size but I fear he doesnt use it and he is more of a shutdown guy like Zajac.

I dont know if the Hawks and Devils are good partners unless we are swapping prospects. I feel you are going to want the guys they would be hesitent to give up and vice versa eith you guys. You guys see the hawks in a similar way I see the Devils and thats quick and fast but also soft and push overs. The Hawks are going to be interested in guys like Wood and Coleman who bring the sandpaper and skill for cheap and we need more of them lol

AA doesn't use his size in the traditional sense. He uses it to get position and battle along the walls.

UPDATING: Looks like the Turcotte buzz is dying off and some are saying they expect CHI to select Kirby Dach at #3.

I am placing my profile evaluation on Kirby Dach so those who keep talking about his skating can simply stop.

Got an early taste in the "Dub" when injuries befell the forwards on Saksatoon. Showed off his competitive nature and was able to set up and score goals as a 16 year old. Displays smarts, size, good feet and a 200 foot commitment. Not a speedster, but has a great stick and soft hands as a high-end playmaker. Can control the pace and the play. Another wing-centre who is very strong on his skates. Can move with above average speed while he maintains possession. Uses his soft hands to find open line mates when he has the puck, and quickly goes into quiet, soft areas to receive returns and scoring looks. When watching a guy this big, you think he is going to get held up. But, he seems to keep effortlessly driving the defenders away from the puck with his long reach and staying in motion while he supports the play. He avoids attackers with side-stepping and a quick stick. He follows the action but the action tends to follow him too. Strong in so many phases of the game already, he is always close to attackers in his end nudging close deterring their advance. Is a regular on the PK and PP. I think there is upside as a pro scorer. But many of his goals will continue to come with plays he started where he positioned himself between the circles, stick on the ice, and wasn’t stopped. He is able to read coverages, make sharp cuts, by driving into the turns. His edge work keeps him away from closing traffic, and frequently leaving him uncovered in the dirty areas. Plenty of room to imagine him as blossoming as a scorer as well as set-up guy. May project as an NHL centre. Big guy with big strong wrists, who gets in close and difficult to move out from the front or take the puck away from. It might take time but no NHL team is going to pass on big man with these tools.

I recently read that Benning is talking to Chiarelli about joining his staff?

How high do you have to be to think that’s a good idea?
