Here we go guys and gals!

Much quieter than I anticipated today. Lots of chatter on the Draft floor... we'll see if anything materializes.

- Tyler Cameron

I bet there was not as much chatter as we were led to believe.

Oh and why’s that?

Well... pointing to one player (Daze) and extrapolating that out to every tall player as being a candidate for chronic back problems is... not a very good point, or one that is sported by sports medicine, or based upon actual experience in the NHL.

So... while I haven’t been beating these boards with my top draft hopefuls (Cozens or Dach) I am going to double down on the prospect I like in the face of these types of arguments.

Not necessarily trying to be a Richard here, just answering you directly.

The thing you have to remember is that GM’s talk all the time. When I hear that the Hawks are discussing Perry, it could also mean that D-bags like Perry are the types of guys they’re looking at. Most of what’s discussed never happens, but it gives us insight into what the GM’s are thinking about. I just report what I hear from my source.

I wasn’t referring to every tall player. Just those who have to motor like Dach or in my example Daze. Defensemen don’t always play 200 ft. Offensive players like Dach would though. Cozens isn’t as tall, I’ve seen Dach play and while fast looks a bit awkward. I prefer Cozens or Zegras at this stage.

I've allowed myself to get way too invested in who the Hawks take versus don't take.

The truth is a good case can be made for each of the top 5 or 6 guys and regardless who my favorite is today - the only thing that matters is that the player they select turns out to be a top notch player.
Second guessing Stan is a favorite pastime on this and other Hawks blogs but this is as big of a put up or shut up decision as Stan has made as a GM so if he gets this one wrong it will be very difficult for even the most ardent Stan supporters to defend him.

This is fun. Less than 2 hours to go.

Anybody have any advice on how to best deal with a whole evening of Pierre McGuire during this draft?

Aspirin, beer, wine... heroin?

How much "on the clock" time does each team get for the 1st round - I don't remember. Whatever it is I hope NJ and NYR don't drag it out and make us wait those extra few minutes.
- EbonyRaptor

15 minutes. I am kinda hoping for the "we have a trade to announce" right before the Hawks pick to see your reaction.

Every draft - like every TDL - lots of talk - lots of “we really expect lots of action this year” - then lots of nothing (except last year’s TDL).

It’s like all of the GMs are afraid to make a decision.

Hold on to your butts everyone. It's about time get serious in a bit. I'm hoping they select Byram and be done with it. C'mon Stan don't Jag this golden opportunity.

And player agents like to add to the scuttlebutt to generate more potential interest for their clients.

I know! Cozens looks like a nervous kid about to give a speech for why he should be student council President.

Hey boys I’m back for the draft. Here’s to hoping we grab Turcotte. Wouldn’t be upset with most of the top forwards (cozens, dach, zegras). Honestly have reservations about byram. Best dman doesn’t mean best available or even great dman.

The Chicago Blackhawks trade the #3 pick to Vancouver for Elias Pettersson.

Yeah ... I'd be good with that.

Even if he takes the player you like the least he is still likely better then who you would have got at 12!
- Devilish4

True to an extent. But, which player Hawks take at 3 matters. Among the possibilities, there will be varying levels of success.

Even at 12, there's a decent chance that one of [Boldy, Krebs, Newhook, Lavoie, Suzuki] will have a better career than one of [Dach, Turcotte, Zegras, Cozens].
