People are underestimating Boqvist, IMO. He won;t be a traditional #1 but he has the abilty.

Beaudin

I believe Mitchell projects more as a defense first D-man than Beaudin.

Tink Beaudin is more 2nd pair than 1st pair, but should have a long career.

Why can’t we have a good GM?
- bigfly46

Gotta love it! Dach has been rated in the top 5 by almost all analysts and the "experts" on the BOD only see what everyone else has.

Tells me D-men are being over-valued. Dach is a good pick.

I would have rather had Zegras.

Also if Stan picks another Dman what message does that send to some of our D prospects that getting close. And Centre depth is what wins cups.
- SaskHawkFan

^^ This- Mitchell unlikely to sign if we bring another top-end defender into pipeline.

We are so short top-end at Centre's in our system. Dach has the potential to be a heavy game changer.

After years of picking smallish players, surprised at the female doging over such a big body.

Agree 100%. Because there are so few top-quality D, they are being elevated. Seen this happen in other sports (QB's for example) drafts.

Yep. For me it was between Cozens and Dach the night the ping pong bounced our way (anyone can pour over the previous blogs to confirm).

What made me tilt toward Dach is that he is more of center in terms of skill sets, Cozens is still viewed by some as a potential winger. Dach will learn to shoot more if that’s needed - but his puck handling skill at speed is better than Cozens.

Nah. Mitchell is a true two-way D-man. He offense has been kept under wraps a bit at DU because he plays a disciplined game for the Pioneers.

And the female dogging begins.... Stan did all right last season. I'm not going to count him out yet...

Surprised but not disappointed by Dach going #3. If he hits potential, I could see a top 6 center possibly in the mold of Blake Wheeler: passing, deceptively great skating, size, wing span. Also reliable defensively and generally across all 200 feet.

And if Strome hits his potential, the Hawks could have 2 highly skilled and sizable top 6 centers along with Toews who in a few years is either a really solid 3C or still an excellent top 6 center giving the team strong center depth to roll 3 strong lines plus a checking 4th line.

So much for all mock drafts. Who had Seider and Broberg in the top-10?
- EbonyRaptor

Don't be sutorisrd about Broberg
Yzerman hangs his hat on pick. Understand his thinking but he better be right. He may turn out good.

Dach's defense is far better from the center position. I wanted Turcotte but I am more than fine with Dach. He and Byram were my 2nd choices.

Of course. If memory serves, the guy you were addressing is still the only fan manning the "Crawford sucks" bandwagon.

If Podkolzin didn't have to stay in Russia for 2 more years, where does he go in this draft otherwise?

Dach and Strome provide the Hawks with great size down the middle, plus Toews is not small either!!
