Of course. If memory serves, the guy you were addressing is still the only fan manning the "Crawford sucks" bandwagon. - HawkintheD

Dach and Strome provide the Hawks with great size down the middle, plus Toews is not small either!! - ChicagoHope

Surprised but not disappointed by Dach going #3. If he hits potential, I could see a top 6 center possibly in the mold of Blake Wheeler: passing, deceptively great skating, size, wing span. Also reliable defensively and generally across all 200 feet.
And if Strome hits his potential, the Hawks could have 2 highly skilled and sizable top 6 centers along with Toews who in a few years is either a really solid 3C or still an excellent top 6 center giving the team strong center depth to roll 3 strong lines plus a checking 4th line. - AEL_Fox
All the analyst said they believed Dach, to be the best overall pick after Hughes and kakko.
I think Dach skill, size and he can be available to play right away is huge. From Stans comments Dach will be given every opportunity to earn a spot on the team next year.

Funny if Caufield fell to our old spot, DK going to be pissed. - gifman
He’s apparently falling to Chicago’s second round pick. |

It’s possible. He might start off playing some on the wing - just to acclimate to the NHL game. But honestly, I hope they keep him down and let him develop his game for at least another year. |

If Caufield continues to drop, Hawks trade Gus for a late first and draft Caufield for ya boy Darth!? |

I'm not convinced that one of these guys can't become a #1 D. I mean Duncan Keith was a second round pick. Who saw him as a future #1 D let alone a future Hall of Famer? - golfbard
Whether the Hawks drafted Byram or not (apparently not, of course), I have faith that the existing D pipeline is strong enough to net enough to build up a future defense corps that can play reliably across all zones: Boqvist, Jokiharju, Beaudin, Mitchell, Krys, and Carlsson plus other hopefuls with less talent like Gilbert, Hillman, Tuulola, and Galvas. Of course, not all will make it and there will be trades and future draft picks.
Someone asked this many blogs ago: is it better to have a true #1 then have progressively decreasing talent as you go down the depth chart OR defense pairs that have a good balance of offense and defense (i.e. whether one player is the offense and the partner is the defense or both are generally reliable on both sides). If all players including forwards play within a system and support one another up and down the ice, then I prefer the latter. |
